Kathryn Davino shared some photos from the Hanford Mills bird walk held on Saturday, May 23: The Hanford Mills pond, a Mourning Dove sitting on eggs, "drill work" from a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, a Red-eyed Vireo nest containing either eggs or chicks, and an impressive wasp nest (from 2025) constructed on the base of an electrical transformer.

Despite the looming rain, we had a great walk! The air was alive with birdsongs, dominated by the chatter of Warbling Vireos. Suzanne Gaynor and Kathryn led 10 other enthusiastic birders to discover 25 species, including a look at a baby Bald Eagle in a nest along West Kortright Road. Two red foxes made a brief appearance in the woods beside the mill to add a little treat as the walk was winding down.

Photo credits go to Kathryn Davino for the first three, and Kathryn Brown contributed the last two photos.
