We need our community's help.

Every day, a child in Blount County finds the courage to speak up about abuse. When they do, they need a safe place to turn.

💙 The Blount County Children's Center provides hope, healing, and protection for children and families facing some of life's most difficult moments. Here, children are believed, supported, and surrounded by professionals trained to help them begin their journey toward healing.

Today, rising costs and increasing demand for services threaten our ability to meet every child's needs.

💝 WHAT YOUR GIFT CAN DO
• $25 — Provide free hygiene products, food assistance, and gas cards to families in crisis.
• $100 — Supports a child and non-offending caregivers who are trying to hold their families together.
• $250 — Educate our community to prevent abuse before it happens.
• $500 — Provide a safe place for children to share their story once and coordinated response with law enforcement, medical professionals, and child protection agencies
• Any amount — Offer trauma-informed therapy at no cost to victims and families — Helps change a child's story

Join Oneonta Fire & Rescue for our FREE Pop-Up Splash Pad event on Sunday, July 19th from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Oneonta Fire Department!

Bring the kids out to run through the water, check out the fire trucks, and enjoy an afternoon of fun with your local firefighters. This is a great way to beat the summer heat and make some memories with the family!

The AFG, SAFER, and FP&S grant application periods are open!

These federal funding opportunities can help departments strengthen operations, improve safety, and better serve their communities.

🚒 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG)
Supports departments with funding for PPE, turnout gear, SCBA, equipment, apparatus, training, and wellness initiatives.

👨‍🚒 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER)
Helps departments increase or maintain staffing levels and supports volunteer recruitment and retention activities.

🔥 Fire Prevention & Safety (FP&S)
Supports fire prevention and education efforts, community risk reduction programs, and firefighter safety research initiatives.

🌟🌟Volunteer Station of the Week 🌟🌟The Blount County Memorial Museum, opened in 1971, is dedicated to preserving and teaching history, in addition to honoring our military veterans. The museum is sponsored by the Blount County Historical Society with significant assistance from the Blount County Commission and is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays 8am-5pm. Volunteer opportunities include: Museum Assistant- RSVP volunteers will answer the phone, help patrons, index genealogy books, make copies, set up displays, file paper, water plants, etc. and assist the manager. Operation Grateful Heart-RSVP Volunteers and also Veterans and Spouses of Veterans help organize the annual Veterans' Day parade and all things Veteran related, including The Honor Flight, any programs honoring Veterans, recognitions and special events. Ready to lead a project that makes a difference in your community? RC&D grant applications are open through June 30.

The RC&D grant program connects Central Alabama communities to the resources and partnerships they need to help people thrive, grow the economy and protect the environment. Grants range from $5,000 to $20,000 and are open to nonprofits, schools, government agencies, and community organizations in Blount, Chilton, Jefferson, Shelby, and Walker counties.

Priority areas this cycle:
- Community improvement
- Education
- First responder support
- Parks and recreation
