On Thursday, June 4, 2026, at about 10:55 a.m., the Webster Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire at 1640 Harris Road in Webster, NY. The Penfield, NY Fire Company, West Webster Fire Department, and Lincoln Fire Rescue also assisted at the scene.

When the first crews arrived, they found a large single-family home at the end of a long private driveway with heavy fire visible in the garage, spreading into the living areas. Firefighters quickly began to fight the fire and brought it under control. The fire was fully extinguished within about 40 minutes.

Due to the hot weather and challenges accessing the property, support was requested from Ontario Fire Company and Fairport Fire Department. The Monroe County Fire Bureau, Monroe County Sheriff's Office, and Penfield Webster EMS also provided assistance on scene.

Fire crews remained at the property for about three and a half hours to investigate the fire and put out any remaining hot spots.

The homeowner was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. No firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Our 2025 Firefighter of the Year is Lieutenant Pat Bruton!

Lt. Bruton earned this recognition for his outstanding actions during a call last October, where he arrived first on scene and immediately sprang into action. His leadership, quick thinking, and dedication to the job exemplify the very best of our department.

Congratulations to Firefighter Pat Moran on being named the 2025 Bobby Catteau Distinguished Service Award recipient!

On top of that, Pat also led the department as the top responder this year with an impressive 303 credits across calls, trainings, and work details. That kind of dedication doesn’t go unnoticed.

Tonight is our annual banquet, an evening to celebrate our members and everything they’ve done over the past year!

If you happen to see a red fire truck cruising around town, don’t worry… it’s not us sneaking out for a quick call between dinner and dessert. 🚒 That’s Walworth Fire Department standing by and keeping everything covered while we enjoy a rare night off.

Yesterday, our Headquarters (Station One) received a visit from the local Girl Scouts. We provided a comprehensive tour of our station and equipment, as well as reviewed essential safety tips. Our visitors had a positive experience and we hope to see them again soon!

One of the many things that makes the Ontario Fire Company so great is our Auxiliary.

They support our firefighters in countless ways, preparing amazing meals during long training nights, standing by us on freezing emergency scenes with hot food and drinks, and showing up during hot summer calls to keep us cool and hydrated. No matter the conditions, they make sure we’re fueled and taken care of during long-duration incidents.

Last night, we had the opportunity to give back. The Ontario Firefighters were proud to prepare and serve a dinner for our Auxiliary, giving them a well-deserved evening that was all about them.

Thank you to the Ontario Firefighters Auxiliary for everything you do not only for our members, but for neighboring departments that come to help us as well. Your dedication and support never go unnoticed, and we truly couldn’t do what we do without you. ❤️🚒🍽️
