Wednesday morning started a little earlier than usual for the Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department with the report of a neighbor’s barn on fire at (04:29). First units were on scene within (9) minutes working to start suppression and prevent the fire from spreading to other close by structures. Large jobs like this require tremendous amounts of people and resources… luckily, we have lots of friends and neighbors!
Our Thanks to the Ontario Fire Company, West Walworth volunteer fire department, and the Webster Volunteer Fire Department for apparatus and crews on scene as well as the Walworth Fire Department and Williamson Fire Company #1 for fill-in crews. Traffic control at numerous intersections was provided by the Fire Police of the Ontario and Walworth Departments. Thanks also to Wayne County EMS, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Wayne County 911, and the Wayne County Fire Coordinators Office for their assistance and support. We are also Thankful for timely support, equipment, and crews provided by the Walworth Highway Department.
While losing a barn and contents is never a desired goal… hard work and dedication limited the loss to (1) structure without any loss or injuries to people or animals. We'll (grudgingly) take that as an acceptable outcome. The Lincoln Fire Department reported back in service at (11:44).
BTW… it’s the time of year when you might see a Fund Drive envelope in your mailbox from one of these agencies (or your own "Hometown" First Responders). Please take the time to consider all the things these Organizations do for you, your friends, and your Community… on any day… at any hour… as a Volunteer.
