Imagine a country where an economy driven by the free market, creates prosperity, giving all Americans a better opportunity for social mobility through personal achievement. Imagine an America where students have access to a broad spectrum of world-class educational opportunities. Where schools are able to inspire the imagination of America's youth in a manner consistent with their values. Imagine
an America where politicians don't subsidize wealthy corporations such as General Motors, AT&T and Halliburton with your hard-earned Tax dollars. Imagine a place where the rich are not getting richer at your expense. Does this sound like an America you would be proud of? Imagine an America where law enforcement officials are on duty to protect you and your family - instead of spending time seeking arrests through invasive policies that violate personal privacy. Imagine an American where government polluters are held accountable for their crimes and forced to clean up the hazardous messes they have created. Imagine an America respected by other nations as a symbol of oppurtunity, freedom and prosperity, rather than viewed as an arrogant empire. Are these your values? Imagine an America where the government cannot dictate your lifestyle or interests, and cannot tell you how to use your own property. Imagine an America where tolerance is a way f life... where no racial, ethnic or religious group receives preferential treatment from the government. Imagine an America where the federal government performs, at most, only a few functions, such as national defense, with all other responsibilities handled by state, or local governments and private citizens. Imagine a political party that can make these core values a reality in the American political system. That party is the Libertarian Party. The Libertarian Party is working to build a happier, healthier, freer society for all Americans. You will notice there is a common theme that is consistent throughout our plan. In every possible scenario, Libertarians want to put freedom and responsibility back into your hands. With every issue, we ask the question: Who decides? Should you make personal decisions regarding your own actions? Who should determine how your money is spent? Who should determine what is best for you and your family? Do you trust your intuition or an overbearing government bureaucracy? The Libertarian answer is evident. You should have ownership of the right and the responsibility to manage your own life. The reasoning behind these beliefs is simple. Your rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are at stake. These are the principles on which the United States of America was founded. They should remain paramount and this should be reflected in public policy.
