The Sept. 1 Auburn City Council meeting abruptly ended nearly two hours after it began amid finger-pointing over who was to blame for the fallout surrounding the redevelopment of two aging apartment complexes.

YES. YES. YES!!!! THANK YOU to all of the residents, pastors, community leaders, elected officials and even Dee Reed of Black Voters Matter Fund who came out in support of our UNITED EFFORT to make our voices heard!!! Thanks to our collective efforts, we had at least 17 presenters, all of whom were POISED, PREPARED AND POINTED in what they said we would like to see happen. At the end of the day it is not about US, it is about the 200 families that are being displaced.

And to Councilwoman Taylor, keep doing what you are doing. The comments said to you were unnecessary and uncalled for. YOU REPRESENTED WELL 💕

EXCERPT… “When people lose affordable housing, homelessness becomes a real possibility. AND while every displaced resident will NOT become homeless, every displaced resident will face housing instability.

SO… with this decision that you made, Auburn NOW risks turning a housing challenge into a homelessness challenge.

GRANTED, While the mayor and many of you SAY you are committed to doing all of these great things to help AFTER THE FACT, to many residents, this feels LESS like leadership AND more like an afterthought.”

…We ELECTED our Lee County Branch DELEGATES for the State Convention.
…We also identified several members who want to observe.
…We SHARED Information on the UPCOMING 74th Annual State Convention of the Alabama State Conference that will be held right here in Lee County.
