🎉 Our first days of CASA Pre-Service Training were a success! 🎉

Our first day of classes yesterday and today went extremely well! Our trainees came ready, eager to learn, and excited to begin their journey toward becoming CASA advocates. 💙

If you’ve been on the fence about becoming a CASA volunteer, we encourage you to take that next step.
You could be the consistent, caring adult a child needs during one of the most difficult times in their life.

You don’t have to know everything before you begin. That’s what training is for. We’ll give you the knowledge, tools, and support you need to confidently advocate for the best interests of a child.

Our newest trainees took their first step this week. Maybe it’s time for you to take yours.

💙 **Meet the Pre-Service Training Facilitators!** 💙

Behind every new CASA Advocate is a team of people dedicated to preparing and supporting them along the way.

Our Pre-Service Training Facilitators have the privilege of training volunteers who will serve children in foster care throughout **St. Landry and Evangeline Parishes**.
CASA Advocates, **Court Appointed Special Advocates** are trained volunteers who speak up for children, advocate for their best interests, and help ensure their voices are heard.

Our facilitators are proud to play a small part in preparing these incredible volunteers for such an important role. We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our knowledge, experiences, and passion for child advocacy with the next generation of CASA Advocates. 💙

Together, we’re building a stronger community of advocates for children. 🫶

🎉 **Pre-Service Training starts Monday!** 🎉

We are so excited to welcome our newest CASA volunteer trainees as they begin this important journey! ❤️

All of our trainees have completed the necessary requirements and are ready to jump into their upcoming classes. We’re especially excited to now offer **both morning and evening classes**, making it easier to accommodate our trainees’ busy schedules.

As kids head back to school, our CASA volunteer trainees are heading back to the classroom too. They will be learning, growing, and preparing to **advocate for children and be a voice for their best interests.** 💙

We’re so proud of this group and can’t wait to see all that they accomplish! Welcome to the CASA family! 🥰

Disciplinary actions in school are more common among youth in foster care, who are twice as likely to be suspended and three times as likely to be expelled.
These setbacks can have long-term consequences. CASA volunteers help ensure children have the tools and support they need to thrive in the classroom and beyond.

Many youth in foster care fall behind in school, not because they lack ability, but because they lack consistency and support.

A recent study shows students in foster care who are able to experience school stability and have a strong support system, are more likely to have positive relationships with peers and positive school experiences, resulting in improved outcomes, including higher graduation rates.

CASA volunteers are there to advocate for educational needs, ensuring children have what they need to succeed - even when everything else is changing around them.

Higher education can feel out of reach for many youth in foster care. While only 10% may go on to attend college, 6% earn a two-year degree and only 4% earn a four-year degree.
