🚒 Welcome to Recruit Class 26-01! 🚒

Today marked Orientation Day for our newest group of recruits as they begin their journey with Orange Beach Fire & Rescue.

Chief Smith welcomed the recruits and laid out the department’s expectations as they prepare for the challenges ahead. This is the beginning of an exciting and demanding journey—one that will require hard work, dedication, teamwork, and a commitment to serving our community.

We’re proud to partner with Fire College as these recruits begin their training and look forward to watching them grow into the next generation of firefighters and paramedics.

When the City of Orange Beach recently opened the Veterans Memorial, our staff wanted to do something meaningful to honor the firefighters who came before us and helped build the Orange Beach Fire Rescue Department into what it is today.

To recognize their service and sacrifice, we placed engraved bricks bearing their names at the memorial.

Moving forward, an engraved brick will be added to honor any City of Orange Beach firefighter who either passes away while serving our department or retires as a vested employee and later passes away.

While we hope we don’t have to add another brick for many years to come, we want our firefighters and their families to know how deeply we appreciate the dedication, sacrifice, and commitment required to serve this community. Those who have devoted their careers—and, for some, their lives—to protecting Orange Beach will always be remembered. Their legacy will remain a permanent part of our department and our city.

Thank you to those who came before us and helped shape the tradition of Protecting Paradise.

More congratulations are in order for Firefighter/Paramedics Reno and Van Blake on successfully completing their probationary period!

Both are assigned to Fire Station 3 and have done an outstanding job during their first year with Orange Beach Fire & Rescue. Their hard work, professionalism, and commitment to serving our community have been evident from day one.

Congratulations are in order for our very own Battalion Chief Matt Kroll for being recognized as the 2026 Fire Chief of the Year! Chief Kroll was presented the award by the Baldwin County Fire Chiefs Association at their July meeting.

Beaches are now flying double red flags due to rough surf conditions. Water is closed!

Orange Beach Fire/Rescue crews were dispatched at 02:21:53 to a reported structure fire in the 29,000 block of Bayshore Drive North in Bear Point. Engine 2 was the first unit on scene at 02:28:52 and reported one single family home fully involved and an adjacent home partially involved. Battalion 1, Truck 2, Rescue 3, Truck 3, and Engine 4 responded with Engine 2. Gulf Shores Fire & Rescue and MedStar EMS also provided assistance on scene and stood by for additional emergencies in the city.

Occupants of both homes escaped the fire before the fire department arrived. Two occupants sustained minor injuries, were treated by paramedics on scene and refused transport to the hospital. Two homes and two vehicles sustained major damage, and a third home sustained minor damage.

The Orange Beach Fire Marshal's Office and the Alabama Fire Marshal's Office are currently investigating the incident. Orange Beach Fire & Rescue would like to thank Gulf Shores Fire & Rescue, MedStar EMS, Orange Beach Police Department, Baldwin EMC, CMC Gas, and Baldwin County 911 for their assistance.
