Today marks another major investment in the safety and preparedness of our firefighters and our community.

We are proud to announce the delivery of our new flashover simulator — a critical training tool that will allow Orange Beach Fire & Rescue personnel to safely experience and recognize rapidly changing fire conditions in a controlled environment.

This investment by our city leadership demonstrates a continued commitment to proactive training and firefighter safety. Firefighters must be prepared for “low frequency, high risk” incidents — the types of emergencies we may not encounter every day, but that can have devastating consequences if we are not properly trained. As Gordon Graham famously stated, we must train for “low frequency, high risk” events because those are the incidents that can hurt or kill responders when preparation is lacking.

The flashover simulator will enhance our ability to train on fire behavior, situational awareness, decision-making, and survival skills under extreme conditions — ultimately making our firefighters safer and improving the service we provide to our citizens and visitors.

Thank you to our Mayor and City Council for continuing to invest in the men and women who serve this community every day.

“Training is Better Here”🔥🚒🍊🏝️
