City of Orange Beach Wind and Water Learning Center Proud Home of the City of Orange Beach's Sail Camp, High School Sail Club, and host to other sailing, kayaking, and environmental education programs.

The Wind & Water Learning Center is a non-profit organization with the City of Orange Beach committed to enhancing our community by providing coastal access, facilities, equipment, and education for sailing and paddling sports to people of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds. Come explore the southern waters of Wolf Bay on a guided kayak tour! ACA Certified instructors will go over paddle strokes and maneuvers, and we will venture out to see the diverse ecosystem Wolf Bay has to offer. Learn about the impacts our waterways have on our local tourism and economy, and how you can enjoy what we have in our own backyard!

✨CAMPER SHOUTOUTS✨

This year at sail camp we began a challenge by choice merit system for campers! Campers that chose to participate had the opportunity to earn ranks at camp after mastering a certain set of skills. We have 4 ranks a camper can earn - Deck Cadet, Chief Mate, Deck Officer, and Captain.

Each rank encompasses various skills that deal with terminology, knots, sailing maneuvers, and lesson plans campers have to master before they can move on to the next level. These are skills we teach following US Sailing curriculum for small boat handling, teaching campers on Optis, Sunfish, and C420s.

This is a dedicated process that requires campers to fine tune skills, and stay committed to learning. It can take multiple summers and sessions to achieve all 4 ranks. This summer we had 33 campers achieve the rank of Deck Cadet, and 4 campers achieve the rank of Chief Mate! We are so proud of their hard work and dedication!!
