Could you be the calm voice someone needs on their worst day?

When someone calls 911, the first person they talk to will be a telecommunicator.

You’ll answer calls, gather critical information, dispatch law enforcement, fire and EMS, and help coordinate the response—all while staying calm under pressure.

If you’re someone who:

* Stays calm under pressure
* Thinks quickly
* Communicates well
* Pays attention to details
* Wants to serve your community

You could be exactly who we’re looking for.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office is hiring full-time Telecommunicators.

Every emergency starts with a call. Be the one who answers it.

We had a great time taking part in the annual Taste of Sioux Center at Dordt University. Events like this give us a great opportunity to meet students where they’re at, build relationships, and connect with the next generation of our community. Who knows, we may have even met a few future members of our team along the way!

Thanks to Sioux County Radio for having our SROs on to discuss the important role they play in our schools!

Our SROs are committed to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while working alongside all of our amazing schools to help create a safe, supportive, and healthy learning environment for every student.

We’re proud of the partnerships we’ve built and the opportunity to work together to keep our kids safe and thriving!

As the new school year begins, Law Enforcement Officers Kyle Munneke, Jessica Dorhout & Jacob Harmelink all joined The Daily Grind this morning to talk about the role they play as school resource officers in our area. As many schools across Sioux County start today and tomorrow, our roads are about to get a lot busier.

Drivers, please slow down, stay alert, and expect the unexpected.

School buses: Red lights and an extended stop arm mean STOP. Never pass a stopped school bus.

Watch for increased traffic and pedestrians:Students will be walking, biking, and crossing roads throughout our communities—not just around schools. Stay alert and be prepared for pedestrians to enter the roadway.

Put the phone down: Keep your attention on the road and avoid distractions.

Give yourself a few extra minutes, be patient, and help us keep our students safe this school year.

Slow down. Pay attention. Share the road.

And to all of the faculty and students—our School Resource Officers are excited to see you all again! Have a safe and successful school year!

Big Mac wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to be careful about what we share online as we head back to school!

Those first-day-of-school photos are exciting to share, but take a quick look at the photo, background, and caption before posting. Avoid sharing personal details such as your child’s full name, school, classroom, teacher, bus information, daily routines, home address, or house number.

🔒 Check your privacy settings and make sure you know who can see your posts and photos. If a photo contains sensitive information you still want to share, blur or cover it before posting.

Predators and scammers can use small pieces of information from social media to learn about children and families. What may seem like an innocent photo can sometimes provide more information than we realize.

Before you hit POST, take a second look and ask yourself:

“Am I sharing more information than I intended?”

Let’s have a great school year and keep our kids safe—both in person and online!
