It can be a stressful time for our farmers as they take crops out of the fields. Pray for their safety, health and mental health as we go through harvest session.

Harvest has begun, farm equipment and trucks are everywhere on our rural roads. We ask everyone to be aware of large machinery and extra traffic.

Summer went way to fast again and here we are with schools back in session and all the activities starting. From All of Us at OCFD we hope for a safe and healthy school year.

Car crashes are the No. 1 cause of death for teens. Fortunately, there is something we can do.

● Teens crash because they are inexperienced; practice with new drivers every week, before and after they get their license

● Set a good example; drive the way you want your teen to drive.

OCFD's Tip for Wednesday August 26, 2026:
Schools often have very specific drop-off procedures for the school year. Make sure you know them for the safety of all kids. The following apply to all school zones:

● Don't double park; it blocks visibility for other children and vehicles

● Don't load or unload children across the street from the school

● Carpool to reduce the number of vehicles at the school

OCFD's Tip for Tuesday August 25,2026:
Drivers use caution at intersections, crosswalks and on the streets, with nice weather kids will be walking, riding bikes or scooters to school. Parents encourage your kids to also be aware of traffic and there surroundings.

OCFD's Tip for Monday August 24, 2026:
Schools are starting: Buses will be out and about picking kids up and bringing them home again. When you see a bus remember it may be getting close to a stop and watch for the yellow lights letting you know that it is preparing to stop and the red lights that it is stopped. YOU DO NOT WANT TO PASS A STOPPED BUS they have cameras and the fines are stiff. Are kids are our future, KEEP THEM SAFE.
