🌀 1 PM Tropical Storm Bertha Update 🌀

From the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi: Tropical Storm Bertha will continue to move west-northwest today, arriving at the Texas coast Thursday afternoon or evening. There is significant uncertainty in the forecast track for Tropical Storm Bertha. The most likely track remains to our north, with a high rip current risk, rough seas, and heavy rainfall as the greatest threats to South Texas. However, some model guidance has suggested a more southerly track, bringing Bertha into the Coastal Bend as a tropical depression or a weak tropical storm. While uncertainty remains high, heavy rainfall is possible Thursday and Thursday night. Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts possible.

The Orange Grove Public Works crew will be repairing a water leak near N Reynolds St and W Josephine Ave. Starting at 4:30 PM, water pressure in your area may be temporarily reduced or interrupted to make the necessary repairs. Service is estimated to be restored by 6:30 PM.

The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a Heat Advisory through 7:00 PM today, Wednesday. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Please remember to stay hydrated and cool, limit time outdoors during the afternoon and look before you lock!

🌀 Tropical Update 🌀

The National Hurricane Center has begun issuing advisories for Potential Tropical Cyclone One. PTC One is forecast to become a tropical storm as it moves along or just off the northwestern Gulf coast through Wednesday. Impacts would be short lived and below Tropical Storm criteria along our coast.

Our messaging remains the same; periods of intense rainfall through the rest of today/tonight could produce widespread flooding. Gusty winds and coastal flooding are also likely.

The National Hurricane Center has highlighted an area over the western Gulf with 50% chance of development in the next 7 days. Regardless of tropical cyclone formation, our messaging remains the same; periods of intense rainfall over the next several days could produce widespread flooding. Gusty winds and coastal flooding are also possible.

🌨️ Wet Week Ahead 🌨️

The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi continues the FLOOD WATCH through Tuesday evening. Forecast rainfall amounts for the Orange Grove area through Friday are 2-6". Storms have the possibility of producing heavy downpours of 1-3" per hour.

The Weather Prediction Center continues their Moderate Risk (3 of 4) of flash flooding for Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday is forecast to be a Marginal Risk (1 of 4), Thursday no risk, Friday with a Slight Risk (2 of 4).

Residents are urged to remain weather aware. Use caution when driving, and remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.
