🚑 Earlier this month, County of Orange Fire & EMS shifts participated in a scheduled quarterly training event simulating a multi-vehicle crash. Crews responded as if it were an actual emergency, in coordination with partner agencies like the Orange County Sheriff's Office VA - Jason C. Smith, Sheriff, Virginia State Police, PHI Air Medical Fredericksburg - AirCare 2, and PHI Air Medical Culpeper - AirCare 6.🚁

In addition to COFEMS leadership, the training was overseen by several instructors who contributed their time to making sure our team is as prepared as possible. We truly appreciate their participation and assistance.

Realistic practice like this ensures our staff are ready to respond to actual emergencies. We're proud of the teamwork and skill demonstrated by each of our shifts. Well done!

Due to a technical error, Orange County’s personal property tax payment system is currently unavailable. Staff are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We will provide an update when service is restored.

Please be aware that only personal property tax payments, such as those for vehicles, are impacted. Online real estate tax payments remain available.

We appreciate your patience while we work to correct the issue.

Mark your calendars! The Orange County Opioid Response Program (ORP) is preparing to host two community events to raise awareness about the impacts of opioid misuse and improve access to resources that save lives. These activities will be hosted with the Orange County Epidemic Intelligence Council - EPIC, and other community partners.

➡️ Overdose Awareness Vigil
The second annual Overdose Awareness Vigil will be held on Monday, August 31, International Overdose Awareness Day, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Offender Aid and Restoration (OAR) Office located at 101 North Madison Road, Orange, VA 22960. While focused on honoring the memories of loved ones lost to opioid use disorder, the event will also provide access to local recovery resources. The hours prior to the Vigil will include free food, AcuWellness services, and the option to participate in a community mural. The Vigil itself will begin at 6:00 p.m.

➡️ Save a Life Day
To further life-saving efforts, the ORP has another event scheduled on Save A Life Day, Thursday, September 24. Alongside other events, hosted in all 50 states, Orange County’s Save A Life Day event will take place at three convenient locations listed below. Free naloxone treatments, along with training and information about local resources, will be available at each site. Naloxone – also known by one of its brand names Narcan – is an easy-to-use nasal spray that works to reverse opioid overdoses. This medication was approved for over-the-counter distribution in 2023.
