✨ Exciting surprise at our Little Free Library! ✨

We recently had a local author, Latitta Waggoner, stop by and leave a signed copy of her book Pink Tea! 💕

My two oldest daughters read it and absolutely loved it. It’s such an adorable story about friendship, teamwork, and kids working together to earn money for a special birthday tea party. ☕🎂

We’re so thankful to have local authors like Latitta sharing their creativity and kindness with our community. If you see Pink Tea in the library, definitely give it a read, it’s a sweet reminder of what friends can do when they come together! 🌸📚

We’re also still in need of more children’s books, so if you have any gently used ones you’d like to donate, we’d love to add them to our shelves! 💛

We added loofah and okra seeds to Gideon’s Little Free Library this week and are hoping to restock with more children’s books soon. If you have any to donate, they’d be so appreciated! 🌱📚

Today, October 15 is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. We remember our sweet babies Gideon, Enoch, and Olive, and all the little ones who are so deeply loved and never forgotten. 💛

🌻 A quick note about the sunflowers 🌻

Hey neighbors! You’ve probably seen the sunflowers blooming next to our Little Free Library. They’re here for the bees, butterflies, and the whole neighborhood to enjoy, not just for looks, but to go to seed so we can share FREE sunflower seeds with EVERYONE later this year !! 🌱

Lately, someone has been pulling up our yellow sunflowers by the roots, and even accidentally tore out an okra plant, which was just left tossed on the ground 💔

If you’d like a FREE sunflower, zinnia, or a small bouquet to have, we’re outside at 7 PM every evening, and would love to cut one for you properly🌼

💡 Please don’t grab or rip flowers, it damages the plants, takes away from the pollinators, and removes something meant for the whole community. Plus, our sunflowers are full of bees right now, so you might end up with a bee sting instead of a bouquet 🐝😬

We’ve also added cameras near the garden to help protect it. Thanks for helping us care for this little space. 💚

🦋🌿 New at Gideon’s Little Free Library : located at the corner of Camellia & Dahlia in Orange, Texas! Our Monarch Waystation Sign is here! 🌿🦋

Exciting news the garden is now an official Monarch Waystation! That means this space around the library isn’t just a spot for books it’s also a certified habitat helping monarch butterflies and other pollinators thrive.

To become certified through Monarch Watch, a garden needs:
✔️ At least 10 milkweed plants (2+ types)
✔️ Nectar flowers blooming spring through fall
✔️ Full sun, wind protection, and no pesticides
✔️ Ongoing care watering, thinning, and mulching
✔️ A simple registration and small fee

🌼 What’s Growing Around the Library:
We’ve planted giant milkweed, swamp milkweed, and native green milkweed for monarch caterpillars, plus nectar flowers like zinnias, coneflowers, black-eyed Susans, sunflowers, bluebonnets, blanket flowers, and more to feed visiting butterflies and bees.

📚 Why It Matters:
This garden wraps right around Gideon’s Little Free Library, making it a place not just for stories, but for science, nature, and wonder. It’s a joy to see kids and neighbors stop by, not only to grab a book, but also to spot a butterfly, caterpillar, or buzzing bee.

Public libraries are essential. We love them and are honored to have worked with hundreds of public libraries in the U.S. to extend their reach farther into their communities. We've been called the TWIGS to their BRANCHES! 😊

❄️The Little Free Library is OPEN in the snow! 📚❄️
Take a walk through the winter wonderland to grab a cozy book about snow, and warm up with a hot chocolate packet (on the house!) while you read.

Easter at the little Free Library! Starting tomorrow Sat March 22 through Easter Grab a toy filled Easter egg, a book, some seeds and a plant. While you are here don't forget to take a picture in either the signs or bluebonnets and tag us!

Today is the 3rd Anniversary of Gideon's library and what would have been Gideon's 4th Birthday.

We added new books and restocked the seed Library with new seeds! Thank you for all of your support I'm so happy to see the community enjoying the library and all of the growth that has happened in the past 3 years! Looking forward to the growth this year will bring.
