***TORNADO WATCH****

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a tornado watch until 10pm for all of SETX and SWLA.

Remember, a watch means conditions are favorable for the development of tornados, and a warning means a tornado is occurring or is imminent.

Have a severe weather plan in place, seek shelter in the interior most room of your house away from doors and windows if a warning is issued, and stay weather aware!

At 17:57 Pinehurst Fire was dispatched to a large brush fire in the 3400 block of Pheasant. Dispatch advised responding units that they had received multiple 911 calls about the incident. Upon arrival, Captain 1 advised there was a large area of bamboo with heavy fire threatening an attached garage. West Orange Fire Department, Bridge City Volunteer Fire & Rescue, Orange County ESD #4 and the Orange Fire Department were contacted for mutual aid. Units were able to stop the fire from reaching the structure and spreading to the rest of the surrounding brush.

Thank you to all the responding fire departments for the assistance!

Just a reminder, WINTER IS COMING!

With subfreezing temperatures on the way, it's important to remember the "4' P's" during Winter Weather. People, Pets. Pipes, and Plants are all vulnerable during cold temperatures.

❄️People: Check on vulnerable family, friends, and neighbors. Minimize time outdoors. Prepare for power outages.

❄️Pets: Bring your pets inside. If it's too cold for you, its too cold for your pet.

❄️Pipes: Cover and insulate pipes when temperatures are expected to be freezing or below. Open up sink cabinets to expose pipes to heated air.

❄️Plants: Bring plants inside if you can, or cover them to help them stay warm.

Also, you should also practice fire safety. If you are using a space heater, place it on a level, hard surface and keep flammable objects at least 3 feet away. Turn off your space heaters before you go to bed. Do not use fuel-burning devices such as grills, they release deadly carbon monoxide.
