Alternatives in Democracy

Alternatives in Democracy Dissent in Democracy is an organization dedicated to facilitating discussion on contemporary issues of our established liberal democracy.

Alternatives in Democracy will teach members and facilitate discussions about viable means of breaking free from our established liberal democracy on a societal and economic level. The organization will educate members on how alternative systems, such as libertarianism, democratic socialism, and socialism, can realistically work in the United States and beyond. Historical context will be a big par

t of the discussions, as well as modern movements such as worker-owned cooperatives. We have partnered with a national organization based in New York called Democracy at Work (d@w) which serves to educate and expand worker-owned cooperatives in an effort to demand alternative solutions to capitalism. Though AiD is not an anticapitalist group, d@w can provide us with access to excellent speakers, materials, and resources of all sorts to help us discuss and debate alternative forms of democracy.

To those saddened by the news of Bernie Sanders suspending his campaign: He’s still on the ballot!

The more votes, the more delegates to the DNC, the more power the progressive voice has in the democratic platform.

Friends!

Come watch AiD participate in the second debate of the semester, this time centering on immigration politics and laws. With the City Council meeting last night on sanctuary state status and Trump's tweetstorms, this couldn't be a more relevant topic to have a debate over.

As usual, it'll be at the AF stage at 7 tonight.

See you there!

We have a big week coming up!

First, our meeting tonight at 8 in the CCC will be a vital discussion on sanctuary cities and on local politics. Both topics are highly charged, so it's sure to be a great meeting!

Tomorrow, the City Council meeting his happening a few minutes away from Chapman. Be sure to stop by if you have the time and make your voice heard.

And on Wednesday, the Immigration debate will be held. Whether you have very strong opinions relating to the subject or are open to hearing as many opinions as possible to make up your mind, this event will be a great time.

Hope to see you at as many of these events as you can fit in your schedule!
