The Music Man is the perfect show to celebrate the United States Semiquincentennial. The story kicks off on the morning of Independence Day in 1912 and captures the heart of small-town American pride, patriotism and community spirit.

The holiday is central to the musical's setting and plot, as the townspeople are busy preparing for their annual 4th of July celebration and picnic. Join us in celebrating America 250 across Southeast Texas this summer with The Music Man on June 16 & 17.

Join us for an evening of tiles and tradition - 1920s game night style! 🀄️

During the 1920s in Orange, Texas, high society enjoyed gathering to play Mahjong, and the Stark family was no exception. Miriam Stark likely hosted lively Mahjong games with friends in The W.H. Stark House’s Sitting Room.

More than a century later, Mahjong is still bringing people together in our community and it's everyone's turn to join the fun. Enjoy Open Mahjong Play in the Carriage House for one evening only! 🧡

🀄️ This event is presented in partnership with Southeast Texas Mahjong and open to mahjong players ready to practice their skills. Beginner Mahjong instructions will not be provided.

Secure your spot at whstarkhouse.org/mahjong-night.

🔸 Miriam’s Mahjong set, crafted from ivory and bamboo, is currently on view in "A Touch of Orange" at the Stark Museum of Art.
