The Sabine-Neches Chapter, Texas Master Naturalist will host a Bugs' Night Out event at Watson Rare Native Plant Preserve on Saturday, June 27.
We will be surveying the nocturnal insects that are attracted to UV lights and will post finds on iNaturalist.org .
The public is welcome to come out to this event to learn about and identify insects that typically come out at night. You do not need to post to iNaturalist if you don't want!
We hope to see you there!

It is with a sad heart that we share the news that Sharon Odegar passed away May 14, 2026. She was instrumental in the formation of the Sabine-Neches Chapter and an advocate for the native plants of Texas and all things wild and wonderful. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
More information will be coming as we are made aware.

🌿JOIN THE MOVEMENT: LESS LAWN MORE LIFE 🌿

What if your backyard (or balcony!) was full of birds, butterflies, and life, and getting there took just one small action a week?

This spring we’re joining the FREE Less Lawn More Life Challenge, a 12-week program that guides you through turning your outdoor space into a thriving habitat. No experience needed. No lawn required. Balcony gardens, small plots, and rural acres all count.

SIGN UP HERE: https://www.lesslawnmorelife.com/?ref=npsot

The kickoff is a free live virtual event on May 7th at 7pm ET featuring a keynote from Robin Wall Kimmerer, botanist, author of Braiding Sweetgrass, and one of the most celebrated voices weaving together indigenous wisdom and plant science.

NPSOT is proud to partner with national conservation leaders to bring this movement to Texas.
