🌟 Senior Spotlight: Meet Bea Pyszkowski! 🌟

This week, we're excited to shine the spotlight on Bea Pyszkowski, who has been a cherished member of the Orange Senior Center family for the past 6 years! 💙

Bea enjoys filling her days with crafts, educational guest speakers, community lunches, and lively cabarets—especially the Neil Diamond tribute, which is one of her favorites! Known for her warm personality, Bea loves chatting with friends, meeting new people, and enjoying great music.

When asked what she loves most about music, Bea shared:
"I love music because it makes my feet happy and I sometimes get to dance!" 🎶💃

Thank you, Bea, for bringing your bright energy and joyful spirit to our Senior Center. We're so grateful to have you as part of our community! ❤️

☀️ EXTREME HEAT ALERT ☀️

Governor Lamont has activated Connecticut's Extreme Hot Weather Protocol from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14 through 5:00 p.m. Thursday, July 16.

With dangerously high temperatures expected, please take precautions to keep yourself and your loved ones safe:

💧 Drink plenty of water—even if you don't feel thirsty.
❄️ Stay in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
🌳 Limit outdoor activities to the early morning or evening and take frequent breaks in the shade.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
🚿 Take cool showers or baths to help lower your body temperature.
❤️ Check in on older adults, neighbors, and others who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
🐾 Make sure pets have access to fresh water and shade, and never leave pets or children in a parked vehicle.

Need a place to cool off? Cooling centers are open across Connecticut. Find one by visiting 211ct.org or by calling 2-1-1.

Stay safe, stay cool, and help spread the word to those who may need it most. 🌞💙
