Meet Ellen Pitera, Orange County Public Schools’ Community Liaison and a familiar face to many across our community! Ellen is a proud 1989 graduate of Orange County High School.

Through her work each day, Ellen connects OCHS interns with local businesses and mentors, helping them earn high school credit while exploring careers, building workplace skills, and gaining hands-on experience.

Pictured here is Ellen with Callie Higgins, OCHS Class of 2026, who turned her internship experience last year into an entrepreneurial opportunity by launching High Roller Performance Horses and Training LLC.

Through her Business and Marketing Internship, Callie gained hands-on experience both in the saddle and behind the scenes. She trained horses, developed a strong business plan, and officially established her LLC. She also learned successful agricultural business practices from Knight Cattle Corp. and received professional mentoring from Spark: Social Media Strategy.

Stay tuned because each week, we will continue to share how OCHS Interns are putting their skills to work throughout our community in our new Beyond the Classroom series. 🧡💙

Learning is in full swing across OCPS!

At Orange Elementary School, Mrs. Kluczyk’s kindergarteners are building literacy skills through reading and writing centers, Ms. Morris’s fifth graders are exploring matter with root beer floats, and Mrs. Hoeckelman’s students are spreading kindness like confetti!

These activities are bringing learning to life through creativity, curiosity, and connection!🧡💙
