🦃🔥 Happy Thanksgiving from the Orange Village Fire Department! 🔥🦃
As you celebrate with family, friends, and great food, we want to help keep your holiday safe. Please take a moment to review these important Thanksgiving Fire Safety Tips:
🔥 Turkey Fryer Safety
Never use turkey fryers indoors, in a garage, or on a porch.
Always set up the fryer on a flat, sturdy surface away from buildings and vehicles.
Make sure your turkey is completely thawed and dry before lowering it into hot oil.
Keep children and pets at least 3 feet away from the fryer.
Never leave the fryer unattended—fires can start in seconds.
⚡ Extension Cord Safety
Do not plug space heaters, air fryers, or high-wattage appliances into extension cords or power strips—plug them directly into the wall.
Inspect cords for damage or fraying before use.
Avoid running cords under rugs, through doorways, or in high-traffic areas.
Use outdoor-rated cords for outdoor decorations and equipment.
🔥 Space Heater Safety
Keep space heaters at least 3 feet from anything that can burn—furniture, bedding, curtains, etc.
Always place them on a flat, stable surface.
Turn off heaters when leaving the room or going to sleep.
Choose heaters with automatic shut-off if they tip over.
From all of us at the Orange Village Fire Department, we wish you a warm, happy, and safe Thanksgiving! 🧡🚒🦃

🚒 Regional Extrication Training – Teamwork in Action! 🚒
This week, the Orange Village Fire Department hosted a hands-on extrication training with crews from Chagrin Valley, Solon, Warrensville Heights, Pepper Pike, Twinsburg, and Woodmere Fire Departments.
A huge thank you to Interstate Towing for providing the vehicles used in our training! 👏
Throughout the day, participants rotated through multiple training stations, learning and practicing advanced rescue techniques — including:
🔸 Using air bags to lift large vehicles
🔸 Stabilizing with struts
🔸 Cutting and gaining access to patient compartments
We were also fortunate to have instructors from multiple surrounding departments sharing their experience and expertise.
Training like this ensures our teams are ready to respond safely and effectively when seconds count. 💪🔥
