Making progress on popular vote determining the outcome of presidential elections—

With Virginia joining the National Popular Vote Compact, the total number of states signed on to it is now 18, plus the District of Columbia, for a total of 222 (out of 270) electoral votes.

With Virginia on board, the National Popular Vote Compact is now enacted in states worth 222 electoral votes. Here's what that means.
