This page supports the efforts of the Orange County Epidemic Intelligence Council (EpIC).

Realizing the impact of the opioid crisis in the Orange Community, a cross section of community leaders and citizens came together in 2018 to form the Epidemic Intelligence Council (EpIC), under the direction of Orange County Social Services Director, Crystal Hale. Since the first Epidemic Intelligence Council (EpIC) meeting was held, those in attendance have worked together to create an opportuni

ty for information sharing, education, collaboration, and to document available resources (while identifying needed resources) to address the opioid crisis locally. Meetings continue to be held bi-monthly in various locations of the County. EpIC Vision Statement
Our vision is for Orange County to be a thriving and resilient community, free from the impact of substance misuse. We aspire to be a beacon of health, promoting overall wellness and empowering individuals on their journey toward recovery. EpIC Mission Statement
Our mission is to collaboratively address substance misuse in Orange County by strategically using resources to initiate action, including education, addressing root causes of addiction, identifying resources, and supporting sustainable recovery. Our social media responses are open as a limited public forum to Orange County residents and employees, for the purposes of discussion of County business, services, and events. The County reserves the right to remove posts from those who are not residents or employees, or who are not discussing County business, services or events. Comments that contain lewd or obscene language, or that incite violence, may be removed.

We'd like to thank everyone that supported or attended last night's Awareness Vigil at the Offender Aid and Restoration office in Orange. We are grateful for the opportunity to remember those we've lost and help provide pathways to recovery for those in need.

We would also like to thank Just Dogs & Catering for providing free meals during the event!

As we reflect on the Vigil, we're even more motivated to save lives in our community. With that in mind, please mark your calendars for Save a Life Day on September 24. This event will provide free naloxone and training for community members at three convenient locations in Orange County.

☑️International Overdose Awareness Day Vigil – August 31

The Orange County Opioid Response Program, EpIC, and Offender Aid and Restoration (OAR) invite the community to attend the 2nd Annual Overdose Awareness Vigil LATER TODAY, from 4:00–7:00 p.m., at the Offender Aid and Restoration Office, 101 N. Madison Road, Orange, VA.

🚨The event will begin with pre-vigil activities from 4:00–6:00 p.m., including a community cookout, free AcuWellness sessions, a community mural, and local resource organizations.

📢 The vigil will begin at 6:00 p.m. as we gather to remember loved ones lost to overdose, honor their lives, support one another, and stand together in hope. Everyone in the community is welcome to attend.

🔊The Orange County Opioid Response Program will host Save A Life Day Events on Thursday, September 24. As part of a national effort to help those impacted by opioids, Save a Life Day events will be held in all 50 states, with three locations offered in Orange County. ⬇️

📢Please Join us in "planting" flowers for loved ones lost to substance use and overdose. A Mural will be available, with "Honor Flowers" to be "planted" for your loved one/s, at the Vigil. The mural is open to anyone who has lost a loved one to substance use or overdose.
