FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Edisto Habitat for Humanity Announces Homestore Closure and Community Closeout Sale

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — Edisto Habitat for Humanity has announced that its Homestore will permanently close at the end of August, or sooner if all inventory is sold.

The decision comes after careful consideration due to rising operating costs and inflation, which have made it increasingly difficult to sustain the retail operation.

To thank the community for its years of loyal support, the Homestore is holding a Closeout Sale with all remaining merchandise available until everything is gone.

The Homestore will continue accepting donations through Thursday, August 20, and all furniture and donation pick-ups already scheduled for August will be honored.

“This was not an easy decision,” said Jessica Burgoyne, Executive Director of Edisto Habitat for Humanity. “Our Homestore has been much more than a retail location—it has been a place where our community came together to support affordable housing and our mission. We are incredibly grateful to every donor, volunteer, customer, and supporter who has been part of our journey.”

Revenue generated through the Homestore has helped fund Edisto Habitat for Humanity’s work building homes and supporting our many programs for families throughout the region. Although the store is closing, the organization will continue its mission of serving local families through home construction, disaster repair programs, Ramp Builds, Advocacy and community partnerships.

Edisto Habitat for Humanity remains hopeful that one day it will be able to open another Homestore and continue providing this valuable resource to the community.

Community members are encouraged to continue supporting Edisto Habitat for Humanity through financial donations, volunteer service, and prayers as the organization continues its mission of building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.

The Homestore is located at 260 John C. Calhoun Drive, Orangeburg, SC.
