Yesterday marks the end of an incredible partnership, and we want to take a moment to recognize and sincerely thank Medtrust Ambulance for their dedicated service to the citizens of Orangeburg County.

Since 2023, Medtrust Ambulance has worked alongside Orangeburg County EMS by providing an additional ambulance and crew to help serve our community. Their commitment, professionalism, and willingness to answer the call have made a meaningful difference in ensuring our residents received timely, high-quality emergency medical care.

To every EMT, Advanced EMT, Paramedic, and supervisor from Medtrust Ambulance who has served in Orangeburg County—thank you. Your hard work, compassion, and partnership have not gone unnoticed, and we are truly grateful for the relationships that have been built over the past several years.

Today, we remember William “Bill” Williams for more than thirty years of service in Emergency Medical Services following his service in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. As a paramedic and training director with Orangeburg County EMS, Bill mentored countless EMS professionals and helped shape the next generation of providers. He will be remembered for his warmth, storytelling, and dedication to his community.

The EMS Memorial Service originally scheduled for May 23 has been postponed due to inclement weather. A new date is currently being planned for the fall as we prepare to honor William “Bill” Williams and the other EMS professionals being remembered this year.

As EMS Week wraps up, we would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who took the time to support and recognize our crews.

A special thank you to Dukes BBQ on Chestnut Street, Orangeburg Department of Public Safety, Orangeburg County Communications Center, LifeNet 3 Orangeburg, SC and Meducare 4 for providing meals, desserts, and support to our personnel throughout the week.

Your generosity and appreciation mean more than you know to the men and women who serve our community every day. Long hours, missed holidays, and difficult calls are all made a little easier when they are reminded that our community and public safety partners stand behind them.

We are grateful for the continued partnership and support each of you provide not only during EMS Week, but throughout the entire year.
