It is with sadness that we share the passing of Marion "Brooks" Jackson, Jr., a longtime volunteer and cherished member of our Orangeburg County Historical Society family. Brooks brought a genuine love of history and genealogy to everything he did with us, and that same curiosity and warmth touched everyone who worked alongside him.

Brooks lived a full life of service and dedicated pursuit of his many interests, from his years with the US Air Force and Air Force Reserves to his career in electrical engineering to his passion for photography, history, and genealogy. He will be remembered for his kindness, humility, and gentle spirit.

Our thoughts are with his family and all who knew and loved him.

We wish more people knew of the thousands of records we hold and are available to help them with their research into Orangeburg's history and in their family trees. We’ve got some great news to share…

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, our plumbing repair fundraiser is fully funded!

We are truly grateful to everyone who gave and especially to those who gave twice. Your generosity made this possible.

Work is scheduled (weather permitting) to begin this week:

DPU will start on Wednesday

WeCo Rooter Plumbing will follow on Thursday

If all goes as planned (fingers crossed 🤞), we’re excited to welcome you back when we reopen on Wed, May 13th at 10am

Thank you again for helping us move from a historic problem to a hopeful reopening. We can’t wait to see you soon!
