🔥 FIRE DANGER UPDATE 🔥

San Juan County fire danger downgraded from Very High to HIGH effective today (Friday 8/15) at noon.

What's now allowed:
✅ Recreational campfires in contained fire pits
✅ Charcoal use (no restrictions)
❌ Outdoor burning of natural debris still prohibited

Stay safe:
Keep water nearby
Never leave fires unattended
Fully extinguish before leaving

Update on smoke in the area!

SMOKE INVESTIGATION UPDATE

Units investigating smoke smell and hazy conditions on east and west sides of island. Bear Creek Fire on Olympic Peninsula is sending smoke our way. Shaw Island currently experiencing heavy smoke conditions.

Hazy conditions will persist and worsen throughout the day. No fire detected on island at this time.
