On Saturday morning Orchard Park firefighters traveled to the Amherst Tower for our annual basement fire training. Crews worked together on hoseline advancement, hydrant hookup and communication as well as working with some thermal imaging cameras. Training Catchup: Last week we were invited by the Windom Volunteer Fire Company to train on water supply, hydrant hookup, hose stretches and establishing a supply for Truck 6. This was a great opportunity for new chauffeurs to become familiar with pump operations and water supply and to train new firefighters.

This week we hosted the Orchard Park Fire District for Tech Rescue Training at the Central Station. Members of Orchard Park Fire Company, Windom Volunteer Fire Company and Hillcrest Volunteer Fire Company trained on rope operations. We reviewed main and belay setups, discussed hauling systems, and familiarized members with the rope cache on Orchard Park Rescue 7. Thanks to everyone that participated.

Last night the Orchard Park Fire District hosted members from Newton Abbott, Woodlawn and Seneca Hose for team RIT training. Each team discussed their respective equipment cache and operations. Training then focused on air management and face piece replacement, hasty harness, Anderson strap application and moving downed firefighters, and finally firefighter packaging and pack conversions. It was a great opportunity to build relationships and work together on critical rescue skills.

Three firefighters from Orchard Park Fire District recently completed Rope Operations training, working alongside state and county instructors to strengthen critical rescue skills. This hands-on training prepares our members for complex rescue situations where technical rope work can make all the difference. Continuous learning and training ensure our firefighters are ready when the community needs us most. Congratulations to Lt. Dinehart, FFs Aubrecht and Torre.

Training Update

On Monday March 7th Orchard Park hosted forcible entry training at the Central Station. Firefighters refreshed their skills on using saws for entry as well as forcing entry on inward and outward swinging doors. Special thanks to Fire Safety Division - Erie County NY for the use of the props as well as instructors who facilitated a great training.
