Last night the Orchard Park Police Department Unions (Police Benevolent Association and Command Officers Association) participated in their Annual Orchard Park Police Shop with a Cop. Fifteen local children were treated to a night out with members of the police department. The event started at the Community Activity Center where the children and their families enjoyed dinner catered by Leo’s and received a special visit from Santa Claus. Everyone then headed to Orchard Park Target where the kids were able to Shop with a Cop to purchase gifts for themselves and their family members. Gift bags filled with goodies were provided to each child from Target.
After shopping, the children were able to get a special police photo ID card in the community policing vehicle and tour a police car. Police dispatchers and civilian staff, along with members of the officer’s families helped out with the event by setting up, serving dinner, and shopping!
While this event is hosted by the Orchard Park PBA and COA, generous donations were also made by the Orchard Park Police Foundation, Orchard Park Police Dispatchers and local Good Samaritans which helped fund the event.
The Orchard Park Police Department was so excited to participate in this event and had a great time spending time and shopping with a great group of children and helping make their Christmas an extra special one.

**SCAM ALERT**
The Orchard Park Police Department has received several reports over the last few days of residents receiving phone calls stating that a friend/family member has been arrested and needs bail money to be released. The caller correctly uses the friend or family member's name on the call and directs the resident to go to the bank and withdraw a large sum of money. A "courier" then arrives at the residence to collect the money.
THIS IS A SCAM. Please do not confirm any personal information over the phone and certainly do not hand over any amount of cash to strangers.
While there are many versions of this scam which are based out of distant areas of this country and even overseas using demands for Moneygrams and Gift cards, this one is local and involves a scammer who knows personal information about the victim and will come to your house.
If you receive such a call, end the phone call and contact us immediately at 716-662-6444.
We would like to thank Harrison Phillips and his Playmakers Foundation for donating a delicious lunch to our department from Ilio DiPaolo's Restaurant.
