The Erie County Sheriff's provided an update regarding an arrest that was made. Many local agencies are assisting the ECSO in these ongoing investigations, including our department.

TWO SEPARATE SEARCH WARRANTS EXECUTED SIMULTANEOUSLY RESULT IN THE RECOVERY OF A STOLEN ASTON MARTIN, WEAPONS CHARGE AND THE ARREST OF A BUFFALO MAN
Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia announces the arrest of 31-year-old Peara C. Mathews of Jefferson Avenue, Buffalo, NY following the ex*****on of a search warrant at a local residence.
On today’s date, Erie County Sheriff’s Office Detectives executed simultaneous search warrants, authorized by the Honorable James Bargnesi, at 562 Jefferson Avenue, Lower Apartment, City of Buffalo and at 554 Birchwood Square, Apartment #7, Town of West Seneca. Both search warrants were in relation to the burglaries that occurred at the Mercedes-Benz of Buffalo Dealership in the Town of Clarence on July 18th, 2023 and September 3rd, 2023.
Detectives recovered an Aston Martin Vantage, valued at $135,000.00 at 554 Birchwood Square, taken during the July burglary. At 562 Jefferson Avenue, Detectives recovered a loaded G***k handgun and arrested Mathews. Detectives are continuing to search for a stolen 2022 Dodge Charger Hellcat with gray racing stripes taken during the July burglary.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office has identified 20-year-old Richard E. Lucas III of Losson Road, Cheektowaga, NY as a prime suspect in these burglaries. Lucas is currently in custody on unrelated charges from numerous jurisdictions.
Mathews is charged with:
• Criminal Possession of a Firearm – Class E Felony
Both burglary investigations remain ongoing by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and the Erie County District Attorney’s Office. The investigation is being aided by members of the City of Buffalo Police Department, Town of Orchard Park Police Department, Town of Amherst Police Department, New York State Police and local New Jersey Law Enforcement Agencies.
