Today marks one year since the passing of my grandfather, Blaine Horn. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about him and the impact he’s had on my life.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have had him not only as a grandfather, but also as a mentor. Over the years, he taught me countless lessons, both in life and in business. I was lucky enough to work side by side with him for many summers and years, learning everything I could. He truly shaped the way I think, work, and carry myself professionally.
The plan was always for me to eventually take over Horn Fire Protection, and he dedicated himself to preparing me for that role. While his passing pushed that transition to happen much sooner than any of us would have wanted, I’m grateful that he laid the foundation for me to continue what he built.
Carrying on the Horn Fire Protection name isn’t just about running a business, it’s about honoring his legacy. Every day, I strive to make him proud and to uphold the values and standards he instilled in me. He constantly reminded me that the customer is the most important thing, to always do right by them, and be honest no matter what.
I look forward to continuing what he started, and keeping his memory alive through the work we do.
