In person tax collection hours are CANCELED for Thursday September 30th.

I am mourning the death of my mother.
I appreciate your cooperation and understanding at this difficult time. Thank you.

You can mail your payment or you can take your payment to the Township Building from 8:30 am until 5 pm and drop it in the box in front of the Tax Collector's office.
However, the best payment option is to use an Echeck (or credit card) to pay your bill, if you can. Not only is your payment processed quickly but you immediately get a receipt when the transaction is confirmed. The link for Municipay is below: https://secure.municipay.com/payapp/public/ECSale.html?siteId=12723&deptId=12723&urlKey=b2c6be2fb626ae369d9460a53f06ccd6b57fff9f You do not need to log-in. Just make sure after you click on "Checkout" you switch to "Pay With E-Check" if you prefer to use an Echeck and not a credit card. There is a flat fee of $1.50 for an Echeck and a convenience fee of 2.65% on whatever you put on a credit card so just look at what the fee is and you will know if you are doing it correctly.

03/18/2021

With the deadline to pay the 2021 County/Township tax bills with a 2% discount less than two weeks away, please keep in mind that the postal system is not what it used to be. The quickest I receive mail is in 2-3 days. There is NO LONGER ANY NEXT DAY USPS First Class mail service, and there has not been for many years.
In fact, much of the mail takes up to a week to arrive at it's destination - sometimes it is even floating around in the system for 2 weeks or more.
You can still pay by mail, and as long as the envelope has a LEGIBLE US postmark on or before the due date, I will accept it as paid on time.
However, I am suggesting to taxpayers that the best way to pay is online, using Municipay to pay with an Echeck or credit card.
But, keep in mind that there are fees for using this method. (I do not get the fees. The Township, County, and School District, do not get any of the fees either. The fees all go to Municipay for providing this service.)
Echeck is the best way to pay and the flat fee is only $1.50.
You will know immediately that the payment went through because you will get an email with a receipt confirming the payment.
Credit cards have a convenience fee of 2.65%.
This is the link to use if you want to pay online using Municipay.
https://trx.npspos.com/payapp/public/ECSale.html?siteId=12723&deptId=12723&urlKey=b2c6be2fb626ae369d9460a53f06ccd6b57fff9f
You do not need to log-in. Just make sure after you click on "Checkout" you switch to "Pay With E-Check" if you prefer to use an Echeck and not a credit card.
If you verify that the fee is $1.50, and not a higher amount, you will know that you have switched to Echeck correctly.

You can also use "Bill Pay" through your bank, but you usually need to set up the payment a week to 10 days before the due date, so if you choose to pay this way, please set up the payment NOW to be delivered BEFORE March 31st. If you make the payment date March 31st, I will not receive it until after the due date. Those payments come without a postmark so you might lose the 2% discount if you pay using that method.
There is also a mailbox outside of the Tax Collectors office in the Township Building where you may put your payment, anytime the building is open to the public.

If you need to verify that I received your payment in the mail, please check to see if the check has cleared. If you are wondering if your mortgage company has paid your taxes, please look at the escrow activity on your mortgage statement.
Please email me at: [email protected] if you have any other questions or need any additional information about any of the payment methods or if you need to know how much you owe. Please note that I do not provide payment information over the phone.

There seems to be a rumor going around that the due date for the 2021 County/Township tax bill has been extended. IT HAS NOT.
It was extended in 2020 but it has not been in 2021.
The due date to take advantage of the 2% discount is March 31, 2021. The actual due date for the tax bill (at the Face amount) is June 1, 2021. After June 1st, a 10% penalty will be added to any unpaid 2021 C/T bills.
Thank you!

2021 County/Township tax bills for Springfield Township (MontCo) were mailed on Monday (despite the snow storm). Most of you should see them in your mailbox today. Due to the weather and still struggling mail delivery by the post office, Please wait until after February 26th to Email me if you still have not received your tax bill.
In addition, the County is several months behind on updating their Property Records. Therefore, some bills were sent in the name of the previous owner. If that pertains to you, and you receive a bill for a house you no longer own, Please do NOT throw the bill away. Please send it back to me. If you are the new owner and you get a bill with the old owners name on it, keep it!! The bill belongs to the house, no matter whose name is on the bill. Most of those bills will be returned to me and it takes time to re-mail them to the correct parties.
2020 was a long and difficult year (from which some of us are still digging out) and 2021 has been a long year already - PLEASE be patient. Thank you.

The Montgomery County Commissioners 2021 $455 million budget shows a 5% tax increase.
The County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Valerie Arkoosh said Thursday that the last time officials raised real estate taxes was in 2017.
Speaking in the hearing's two sessions, Arkoosh underscored the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic on the local government’s finances. That increase equates to $29 more per year for the average homeowner, according to Arkoosh.

Arkoosh also proposed a real estate tax deferral program, which aimed to assist eligible property owners during these difficult times.
It would apply to homeowners 65 years of age or older who have an “annual household income of $35,000 or less, including 50 percent of social security income,” according to a county spokesperson.
“All taxes deferred under this program are secured by a real estate tax lien, annually and deferred for collection until the property is sold, the owners are no longer the sole residents, or the property is transferred through will or intestacy,” a county spokesperson said.

A vote for the program is expected to take place (at 10:00 am) on Dec. 17 along with the budget vote.

The Springfield Township School Board voted last week on the new millage and Homestead Exemption, as well as the due dates for payment. The bills will be mailed soon. They should be in your mailbox in early July.

To ease the economic impact of the current crises on School District taxpayers, the Springfield Township School Board extended the 2% discount to September 30, 2020 for all taxpayers who pay their 2020-2021 real estate taxes in full by that date. The Board also delays the imposition of the 10% penalty until December 15, 2020. Tax Bills paid in full from October 1st to December 14th (between the end of the extended discount period and the beginning of the delayed penalty period) shall be for the face amount of the tax notice.

For those taxpayers who choose to pay their 2020-2021 School taxes using the installment plan, the payment deadlines remain July 31, September 30, and November 30. Any 2020-2021 installment payments that remain unpaid on December 15, 2020, shall be assessed a 10% penalty on the balance of all payments owed. This penalty amount and all overdue installment payments shall be collected by the Tax Collector on or before December 31, 2020. The 1st installment MUST be paid on or before July 31, 2020 to be eligible to use the installment plan. When the 1st Installment is paid on time, you are committed to using the installment plan and no discount is allowed.

Due to Covid-19, there will be NO in person tax collection hours for the remainder of 2020. For the acceptable, low or no contact ways to pay, and more detailed information, please refer to the insert that is included with the tax bill.

Changes shall only apply to 2020-2021 school year taxes.

As local governments look to make up the shortfall in tax revenues due to less consumer spending during the COVID-19 pandemic, many state and local leaders have discussed boosting property

The property tax bills for the School District of Springfield Township are scheduled to be mailed in early July.
The millage nor the Homestead amount nor the due dates have been confirmed yet. There will be changes this year due to Covid-19. The School Board has not voted on the new budget - yet. When they do, I can then prepare the file needed to process the bills. Hopefully, they will be mailed on time. Please be patient. Please wait until after July 25th to contact me if you have not received a bill. This year has been crazy busy. Things have been changing on an almost daily basis. There has been legislation passed regarding payment of taxes as recently as last week, and there is still some pending legislation.
At the end of March and again at the end of May, the due dates for the County/Township bills were extended. The current bill is due on or before July 31st. A 10% penalty will not be added to unpaid bills until August 1st (usually June 1st). Due to the changes, I have over 250 incorrect payments to straighten out or for which refunds need to be issued, and that number grows every day. If your payment was not processed, it is because you paid the wrong amount (too much!!). It is also why receipts have not been sent yet. I have never been busier and due to the unprecedented circumstances, there is a lot of extra work this year.
