🚧 Street Improvements Coming Soon! 🚧

The City of Orient is pleased to announce that, thanks to funding received through the Economic Impact Grant, several streets throughout the community will be resurfaced.

The attached map shows the streets included in this project. The red and yellow markings are for the contractor’s use only and do not indicate different types of work or priorities. Every marked street shown on the map is scheduled to be resurfaced as part of this project.

The project is currently in the procurement and bidding phase, which is the final step before construction begins. Once the bidding process is complete and a contractor is selected, the City will announce the anticipated construction schedule and any temporary traffic impacts.

These improvements represent another investment in Orient’s infrastructure and will provide smoother, safer streets for our residents and visitors.

Thank you for your continued patience and support as we work to improve the City of Orient. 🚧

The City of Orient would like to inform residents that active enforcement of city ordinances will begin immediately.

For many years, ordinance enforcement has been limited. As a result, some properties that are not in compliance have gone unaddressed. To ensure our ordinances are applied fairly and consistently, the City has hired a Code Enforcement Administrator.

We understand this may be a change for many residents, but our goal is not to target or single out anyone. Every residence, property, and property owner will be held to the same standards under the same ordinances. Enforcement will be conducted impartially and professionally throughout the community.

Maintaining our properties and following city ordinances helps protect property values, improves public safety, and keeps Orient a clean, attractive place to live.

If you receive a notice of a violation, we encourage you to work with the City to resolve the issue within the time provided. Our goal is voluntary compliance whenever possible.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as we work together to improve our community.

⚠️ Water Service Disconnect Reminder ⚠️

This is a reminder that water service will be disconnected tomorrow, Monday, July 27, for accounts that are more than 30 days past due.

Final notices were mailed approximately one week ago. Due to the unusually high number of delinquent accounts, the City must enforce its water billing policy consistently.

If your account is more than 30 days behind, your water service will be suspended until your account is brought current.

If you have received a final notice and have not yet made payment, please take care of your balance immediately to avoid interruption of service.

Thank you for your prompt attention and cooperation.

🚨 BOIL WATER ORDER – EAST CHICAGO AVENUE 🚨

NOTICE TO RESIDENTS

A Boil Water Order is now in effect for residents on East Chicago Avenue in Orient until further notice.

During fiber internet installation work today, contractors accidentally struck a water line. As a precaution, affected customers should bring all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, and preparing food to a rolling boil for at least one minute before use.

City crews are working with the contractor to repair the damaged water line and restore normal service as quickly as possible. Water quality testing will be completed before the Boil Water Order is lifted.

We will post another update as soon as the order has been lifted.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as repairs are completed. Please share this post to help notify your neighbors.
