Orinda PD’s Recess with a Cop program is a great reminder of the importance of community connection. Our officers enjoyed spending recess with students—playing games, sharing laughs, and building positive relationships. Thanks to the students, staff, and everyone who made it a success. We’re proud to be part of this community. 💙🚓

🚔 Officer Spotlight 🚔

Meet Cody Dickerson, one of the dedicated officers serving the community during the graveyard shift at the Orinda Police Department. While most of the city is asleep, our overnight officers are hard at work keeping the community safe.

👮‍♂️ “I have been employed with the Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff since June 2022. I spent my first year assigned to the Martinez Detention Facility before transferring to county patrol. I transferred to the Orinda Police Department in June 2025. Prior to being a Deputy Sheriff, I did parking enforcement for the Sheriff’s Office.”

When asked about his goals at Orinda PD, he shared:

💬 “My goals working at the Orinda Police Department are to ensure public safety through strong communication, proactive contacts, and building relationships with members of the community.”

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, lifting weights, and hiking.

Thank you to all of our officers working late nights and early mornings to help keep Orinda safe! 🌙🚓

TRAFFIC ALERT - Signal Timing Changes along Moraga Way
A Message from the City Manager, Linda Smith

The City of Orinda has taken aggressive action to curb cut-through traffic in the Ivy and Coral Drive neighborhood during the morning school drop off.

The first major change starts this week with the timing of signals along Moraga Way Between 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., the signals along Moraga Way will hold green lights far longer than previously allowed. This will have a major impact on the side street traffic at Coral and Ivy Drives. On those side streets, those vehicles will be held for an extended period and when vehicles do receive the green, only a handful of vehicles will be able to pass through the intersection. The goal of this is to unilaterally curb the cut through activity, but it will also have the unintended impact of affecting those living in the neighborhood who are also seeking to leave the area during that period.

These changes will be in place until end of the school year. These refinements are designed to reduce congestion, improve safety, and support more predictable travel times during peak school hours. The City highly encourages residents currently cutting through these neighborhood streets to please stay on Moraga Way. It will help the neighbors and help you!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for Coffee with the Police Chief! It was fantastic to see our community come together for open conversation, thoughtful questions, and meaningful connection, all over a great cup of coffee.

We truly appreciate the energy and engagement you brought to the event. Opportunities like this help strengthen the relationship between our community and local leadership, and we’re grateful to be part of that dialogue.

Special thanks to Orinda Police Chief Anthony Rossi for sharing his perspective, insights, and vision with such openness and authenticity.

Our next event is our April Chamber Chats on April 28 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at the Oak Springs Pool Clubhouse (39 Spring Road, Orinda). This month’s hosts are Gita (In The Deets) and Priya (Konstucto). Each month a different chamber member hosts by bringing a carafe of coffee and sharing a brief introduction
about themselves and their business. From there, it is all about conversation – an easy way to catch up, make new connections and get to know one another better. For more information about the chamber’s events, please visit www.orindachamber.org
