🎂 CAUGHT IN THE ACT… CELEBRATING 90! 🎉🚔
Police were called to a loud party Saturday night in the Sleepy Hollow neighborhood, but when officers arrived, they quickly discovered the “culprit” was none other than Michael Rubinstein, who was busy celebrating his 90th birthday with family and friends.
Apparently, when you turn 90, you’re allowed to get a little rowdy. 😄
For Mr. Rubinstein, learning that his birthday party was lively enough to bring the police to the door may have been the best present of the night. After a brief investigation, officers decided to let the birthday boy off with a warning — after all, it’s hard to throw the book at someone when there’s birthday cake involved.
The officers stayed long enough to enjoy a slice and wish Mr. Rubinstein a very happy 90th birthday. ❤️
Here’s to Michael — 90 years young, still throwing ragers worthy of a police response, and proving you’re never too old for a little good-natured mischief. 🎉🎂🚔

Meet Officer Shiffer! 👮‍♂️

You’ll see Officer Shiffer around Orinda during the daytime, toward the latter half of the week.

Officer Shiffer has been with the Sheriff’s Office since April 2021. His goal is to help keep the community safe through proactive policing while building strong, positive relationships with the community.

When he’s off duty, Officer Shiffer enjoys spending time with his family, working out, and watching sports.

Be sure to say hello when you see him around Orinda!

The culmination of the Police vs. Fire rivalry came down to one epic tug-of-war! 🚔🔥💪

Fire came out on top and took the title this year, but the Police aren’t giving up that easily. We’ll be back at National Night Out 2027 to take the championship! 🏆

Children are heading back to school - Safety Tips

As many children are heading back to school this month, the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff would like to offer some safety tips.

-Drivers please slow down and be aware of children walking and on bicycle and scooters, especially in residential areas and school zones.

-Drivers in both directions must stop when a school bus has its red lights flashing and "stop" arm extended. Children are boarding or unloading. You can continue once the bus starts moving again.

-Children walking to school should only cross streets at crosswalks and intersections and never between cars. Please obey crossing guards.

-Children riding their bikes or scooters to school should wear helmets and bright clothing.

-Those taking children to school should follow and obey the school drop-off procedures and speed limits.

🐢🚨 SUSPECT APPREHENDED!

Orinda Police officers recently responded to a very slow-speed getaway when a large tortoise decided to leave home without telling the family. 😂

After a determined search, officers successfully located the runaway reptile on Camino Pablo and brought him safely back to his family 🐢💖.
