Last evening at 21:16, the Oriskany Falls Volunteer Fire Department, along with our 1st alarm mutual aid partners, were dispatched to a reported structure fire on South Main St in the Village of Oriskany Falls. Car 1 (Petrie) arrived within 3 minutes of dispatch to find a 2 ½ story home with heavy fire showing from the rear of the structure and declared a working fire. Car 2 (Dowd) assumed exterior operations, Car 3 (Johnson) assumed interior operations and G. Pedersen was assigned Safety Officer.

Engine 3 (Lt Bruno) arrived 1st due and pulled a 1 ¾” handline to the rear of the structure and began knocking down the fire from the exterior. A water supply was established from the hydrant near the front of the structure.

Waterville Engine (Dep. Chief Baldwin) arrived and made entry with a 1 ¾” handline to the second floor and began interior fire suppression operations. Crews from Deansboro and Madison arrived shortly after and assisted with fire suppression operations. Clayville arrived to assume FAST operations and their crews also assisted with suppression operations.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down quickly, however, being an old home that had been previously damaged by a fire many years ago, the fire travelled into many void spaces and was difficult to extinguish. Extensive and exhaustive overhaul operations were conducted by several crews. The second floor of the structure sustained heavy fire and heat damage, however, the fire was limited from reaching the attic and the first floor sustained only minimal water damage.

We are appreciative of the assistance received by Oneida County Deputy Coordinator Car 12, Oneida County Cascade 1, Central Oneida County Ambulance, NYSEG, Oriskany Falls American Legion Auxiliary and the Oneida County 911 dispatch center.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. All units were back in service at 00:33. A HUGE THANK YOU to all 32 dedicated members of the Oriskany Falls Fire Department and all the members our mutual partners who responded and assisted with this incident. Car 1

Last evening at 21:17, the Oriskany Falls Volunteer Fire Department, along with our 1st alarm mutual aid partners, were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Anderson Road in the Town of Augusta. Car 1 (Petrie) arrived within 5 minutes of dispatch to find a split level “A” frame structure well involved and declared a working fire. Car 2 (Dowd) assumed operation on the A side of structure and Car 3 (Johnson) assumed C side operations. Engine 1 (Lt M. Bowie) arrived and deployed the Blitz Fire appliance to the A side of the structure which knocked down a bulk of the visible fire. Two 1 ¾” handlines were also placed in operation.

Deansboro Car 1 (Steinmann) was assigned water supply operations and G. Pedersen was assigned Safety Officer. Deansboro Engine 413 established a tanker fill site at the dry hydrant on Durling Road. Deansboro, Vernon Center, and Vernon FD’s provided tankers and assisted with fire suppression operations, Madison FD provided manpower for fire suppression, Munnsville FD provided a tanker and was assigned to be the FAST and Waterville FD provided a tanker and standby crew at Oriskany Falls Station #1.

Interior fire operations were limited due to a partial floor collapse of the structure, which was a total loss. We were also assisted by the Oneida County Deputy Coordinator Car 12, Oneida County Cascade 1, Central Oneida County Ambulance, NYSEG and the Oneida County 911 dispatch center.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Thank you to all 29 dedicated members of the Oriskany Falls Fire Department and our mutual partners who responded and assisted with this incident. Car 1
