It's that time of year again! As you get ready for the winter, consider donating gently used cold weather apparel to the library so that we can provide for those in need during our village's annual Christmas in the Place of the Nettles celebration. If you would like to donate for our winter-wear drive, donations should be brought into the library during our open hours (Mon-Fri 1pm-6pm) and NOT into the clothing drop-box behind our building. As always, your support to the library and your local community is greatly appreciated!

Nettles: Village of Oriskany “Christmas in the Place of Nettles” will take place on Sunday December 7, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00. Come and join us for Free Fun and a snack at the Oriskany Public Library, 621 Utica St. Oriskany, NY. The library will be having crafts, courtesy of the Oriskany Teachers Association

Volunteers Needed: The library is looking for a few volunteers to help pop popcorn on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM. This is a fun and easy way to lend a hand — perfect for anyone who may need community service hours or just wants to get involved! Interested? Call the library at 315-736-2532 for more information or to sign up.

Food Drive: The Oriskany Public Library is holding a food can drive to help ‘Feed our Vets.’ They are in need of: cereal, dried pasta, sauces, canned fruit, tuna, peanut butter, jelly, boxed potatoes, ramen noodles, soups, rice, RiceARoni, baked beans, canned beans, pancake mix and syrup. Bring your canned or non-perishable food items to the library from November 1, 2025 through December 12, 2025.

Clothing Swap: We are asking you to bring your gently used “winter wear” to the library at 621 Utica St now through December 12, 2025: hats, gloves, boots, coats, snow pants, and socks. These items will be available for those in need throughout the winter and during our annual “Christmas in the Place of Nettles” to either swap or shop for free on Sunday December 7, 2025.

The Oriskany Public Library will be closed today Wednesday Sept. 17th due to a water main break.
The AARP defensive driving classes scheduled for Sept. 17 & 18th are now rescheduled for Sept. 18th and 19th. from 9:15am - 12:30pm.
