We caught some of our favorite mascots with their noses in books this morning! 📚

From adventures to new discoveries, there’s always somewhere a good book can take you. And apparently, our mascots know a thing or two about finding a great read! 💙🤍

🦅 Falcon Sighting!

We had a new mascot sighting at Fairview Elementary today!

While visiting Fairview, we spotted the school’s brand-new mascot, the Falcon! 🦅

The Falcon tried to be sneaky… but we were a little stealthier and managed to capture a few photos! 📸😉

Keep your eyes peeled, you may spot the Falcon at upcoming school events! If you do, don’t be shy… come say hello and ask for a picture. 📸

Coming soon, Fairview students and staff will have the very important job of helping choose a name for their new mascot. We can’t wait to see what creative names they come up with!

¡Hoy tuvimos un nuevo avistamiento de la mascota en la Escuela Fairview!

Durante nuestra visita a Fairview, vimos a la flamante mascota de la escuela: ¡el Halcón! 🦅

El Halcón intentó pasar desapercibido... ¡pero nosotros fuimos más sigilosos y logramos tomarle algunas fotos! 📸😉

Learning in Action 📚

TK students have had a busy and exciting first two weeks of school! They have been exploring their new classroom, getting to know their teachers and friends, and learning our daily routines and expectations. We are learning that school is a place to feel safe, have fun, make friends, and learn through play!

Today, TK students in Mrs. Blevins’ class enjoyed learning centers focused on important early learning skills. They used paint daubers to practice the first letter of their name,
learned how to use scissors, and made patterns with frog-shaped counters.

Through these playful, hands-on activities, our TK friends are strengthening their fine-motor skills, recognizing colors and letters, developing creativity, and building independence.

We are off to a wonderful start! 💙🤍🐝

In our first weekly update learn about C.K. Price’s new CTE class, Career Exploration. The response to the new class offering has been incredible! Students are excited to enroll in the classes and will receive structured career exploration aligned with the available CTE pathways, many of which are available at Orland High School. By building early awareness, interest and readiness, the goal is to increase CTE participation and pathway completion at OHS preparing students for high-demand, high wage careers.

As our School Resource Officer, Officer Flores is more than a familiar face on our campuses—he’s a trusted member of our school community who builds relationships with students, supports our staff, and helps keep our schools safe.

We’re grateful for the time, care, and commitment he brings to our students and schools. Thank you, Officer Flores, for being an important part of our OUSD family! 👮‍♂️💙

We've been busy stuffing backpacks in preparation for the OUSD Back to School Block Party, and we can't wait to welcome our students and families!🎒

This event is open to ALL OUSD families—whether your student needs a backpack or not. Backpacks and school supplies are available to every OUSD student, regardless of income, while supplies last. It's a great opportunity to connect with your school, enjoy fun activities, and get excited for an amazing new school year.💙

Students should be present to receive their backpack and school supplies. If your student is unable to attend, a parent or guardian may pick up their backpack with a valid photo ID.

We can't wait to kick off the 2026–2027 school year with you!

Hemos estado muy ocupados preparando las mochilas para la Fiesta Vecinal de Regreso a Clases de OUSD, ¡y estamos deseando dar la bienvenida a nuestros estudiantes y familias! 🎒

Este evento está abierto a TODAS las familias de OUSD, independientemente de si su estudiante necesita una mochila o no. Las mochilas y los útiles escolares están disponibles para todos los alumnos de OUSD, sin importar sus ingresos, hasta agotar existencias. Es una excelente oportunidad para conectar con su escuela, disfrutar de actividades divertidas y entusiasmarse por un nuevo y fantástico año escolar. 💙

Los estudiantes deben estar presentes para recibir su mochila y los útiles escolares. Si su estudiante no puede asistir, un padre o tutor puede recoger la mochila presentando una identificación oficial con fotografía válida.

¡Estudiantes y familias de OUSD, acompáñennos el miércoles 29 de julio, de 11:00 a.m. a 1:00 p.m., en la cafetería de la escuela primaria Fairview para nuestra primera gran fiesta comunitaria de regreso a clases de OUSD!

Este evento es una excelente oportunidad para que las familias reciban mochilas y útiles escolares GRATIS, así como zapatos GRATIS, además de conectar con la escuela de sus hijos e informarse sobre los recursos de la comunidad.

Queremos aprovechar la ocasión para agradecer al GCOE Star Center por su colaboración, así como a CORE West, Inc. y King Consulting por sus generosas donaciones.
