Yesterday, students at Florida Atlantic University met to discuss how to fight back against mass surveillance and state repression. We all agreed that the best defense is a good offense and the most effective way to fight back against ICE was an organized, mass resistance which utilizes strategies like strikes, occupations and walkouts.
One of the best recent examples of this was the day of “No Work, No School, No Shopping” in Minniapolis on January 23. Tens of thousands of people from all around Minnesota answered the call to demonstrate against ICE. Through collective mass action, they successfully pushed out ICE from Minniapolis! But the Trump administration is going on a counteroffensive.
15 a activists from Minneapolis have been indicted for playing a leading role in helping to organize mass, nonviolent civil disobedience. This is clearly an attack on free speech!
FAU students stand in solidarity with the Minneapolis 15 because we understand that an injury to one as an injury to all! We call on all students and educators to unite and fight against these attacks on the Minneapolis 15. A mass nationwide solidarity campaign is needed to not only defend the Minneapolis 15 but go on the offensive against MAGA.

Join us on September 19 from 1 PM at the Palm Beach Quaker House in Lake Worth Beach to discuss next steps for the movement!

The global level of CO₂ concentration in the atmosphere reached 425.6 parts per million in 2025. This represents a 53 per cent increase from pre-industrial levels, whilst emissions from fossil fuels set new records despite all the annual UN-led conferences on this threat since the early 1990s.

The first two of Europe’s summer months in 2026 were 2.79 degrees warmer than usual, according to the European observation service Copernicus, exceeding the previous record set four years ago. Although this is precisely what the world’s climate scientists and the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change have been warning about for decades, Europe’s capitalist politicians seem completely oblivious. They are fully preoccupied with military arms races, geopolitical power struggles and watering down demands for industrial decarbonisation, yet almost entirely blind to the greatest security threat facing humanity.

Yesterday, our comrades at FAU mobilized for a sidewalk chalk party to build support for our upcoming public meeting. Together, we transformed sections of a busy campus walkway into a public display of revolutionary politics, covering the sidewalk with meeting information and designs promoting reproductive justice, trans-inclusive healthcare, Palestinian liberation, opposition to imperialism, and divestment from war and incarceration to fund housing and education.
The result was a highly visible political intervention that put socialist ideas directly in front of hundreds of students and sparked conversations on campus. Of course, some Zionist students weren’t happy with our displays of solidarity with Palestine, but we’re not afraid of a few hecklers.
This was only a symbolic expression of growing opposition to capitalism and renewed interest in socialist ideas! If you’re in South Florida and want to help build the movement for revolutionary socialism, join our public meeting TOMORROW at 5 PM. DM us for the meeting details!

More than 180,000 people in Puerto Rico are facing water rationing, but this crisis didn’t come out of nowhere. For decades, Puerto Rico’s two capitalist parties, the PNP and PPD, have traded control of the government while overseeing austerity and privatization. Despite their differences over Puerto Rico’s political status, both parties have governed in the interests of the wealthy while the working class pay the price. Now communities face water rationing while luxury developments place even greater pressure on the island’s resources.
On August 11, Unión Independiente Auténtica staged a 24-hour strike, Dozens of people held a protest on Saturday, August 15 outside the entrance of the Fairmont Hotel in San Juan, where Governor Jenniffer González-Colón celebrate her 50th birthday.
Puerto Rico’s water crisis shows why working people cannot rely on either capitalist party to defend our interests. We need an independent movement of workers and oppressed people that can fight austerity and privatization, bring essential public services under democratic workers’ and community control, and challenge the capitalist system responsible for this crisis. Water is a basic right, not a commodity.

For an AAA run by workers and the communities it serves! Down with the Fiscal Control Board and the colonial rule over the island!
Esencia no va! Agua para el pueblo, no para los ricos!

ICE terror. AI dystopia. Mass surveillance. These aren’t problems we can vote away.
From ICE raids and attacks on immigrants to the growing use of AI and surveillance technology, the capitalist state is building increasingly powerful tools of repression. We need a movement capable of fighting back.
Join Socialist Alternative at FAU to discuss how we can fight ICE terror, resist the surveillance state, and build a revolutionary socialist alternative to capitalism.

The fight for a world without racism is a fight for a socialist world and an end to capitalist divide-and-rule. Black liberation and ending racial oppression must be a fight against global capitalism based on international solidarity

On July 6 on the coast of Horn Island, Nolan Wells, an 18-year-old Black student in Mississippi, was found dead facedown on a beach. After his body was found, officials quickly stated they did not suspect foul play, but given the circumstances of his death, his parents and those that followed the st

Drop the charges on the Minnesota 15 and all anti-ICE protesters! Solidarity from socialist activists from Britain, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Nigeria, Sweden, Taiwan, and the US.

In June, the Department of Justice indicted 15 anti-ICE activists, known as the Minnesota 15, on spurious charges in an attempt to strike fear into the movement. Then on August 13, news broke that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been engaged in a months-long investigation of multiple unions and left groups, including Socialist Alternative.

The regime is trying to win back in the courts what they lost in the streets. We can't let them. We need a massive public defense campaign to fight back against Trump's state repression and attacks on immigrants. The ramping up of authoritarianism is a global phenomenon and the struggle against repression and state violence must be international!

ISA will be helping building the movement against these attacks. Message us to support and follow the official campaign .15 Read more at the links in the comments.

Winning seats in government isn’t enough to defeat MAGA!
Elections change who holds office, but they don’t change who holds power. MAGA was built through an organized movement backed by billionaires, corporations, media networks, & far-right activists so it won’t disappear because Democrats pass better policies. Defeating MAGA means building a fighting movement of working people outside the halls of government, powerful enough to confront the far-right in our workplaces, schools, and streets. An independent workers’ party, initiated by the labor movement, could provide the leadership necessary to unite these struggles nationwide and escalate them beyond isolated days of protest. The Democrats cannot serve that role because they are a capitalist party that defends the status quo!
That’s why any effective offensive against MAGA needs to start with a decisive break from the two parties of war and Wall Street NOW. Not after the next election! We need to begin building the type of offensive organizations necessary to defeat not just Trump, but the entire capitalist system that gave birth to him!
If you agree with the need for a new, independent workers party, rooted in the labor movement, that can lead this fight, then join Socialist Alternative on September 4th at 5 pm to discuss next steps for the movement. DM for location!
