Big news for SRC Community Cares!

Thanks to the generous support of the Kelly Family Cuidiu Foundation at Central Florida Foundation, two members of our team are heading to Chicago next weekend for the Workforce Development Solutions Lab with Cara Chicago. The lab is an immersive training on best practices from 30+ years in workforce development.

SRC Community Cares connects our neighbors experiencing homelessness with paid work opportunities right here in East Orange County. This investment means our team will come home more equipped to walk alongside even more neighbors on their path toward stable employment.

We are so grateful for partners who believe in our mission and help us grow our capacity to serve. Thank you for making this possible. 💙

What does it look like when housing works? At Samaritan Resource Center, 62% of neighbors in our bridge housing programs move into permanent housing. The national average is 18%.
That number doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of walking alongside each neighbor with individualized case management, a network of resources, and the deep conviction that every person has the capacity to flourish when they are genuinely supported.
Since starting our family bridge housing program in April 2024, SRC has been the only agency in our area offering this specifically for families, filling a gap no other local organization covers. That’s part of the reason why our program has been so successful— other area agencies are able to refer to us if their own grant requirements prevent them from helping.
The momentum is real: 648 neighbors secured housing through SRC’s programs in 2025. Since January 2026, 515 more have found a place to call home. 🏡
Huge shoutout to Laura and Mercedes, our housing navigators at SRC! They are the top two housing navigators in Orange County according to Housing Connector, one of the systems for tracking this important work. ✨

To everyone walking a hard road this month and every month, this one is for you.

Your struggles do not define you. Your setbacks do not have the final word. And the weight you are carrying right now does not have to be carried alone.

Mental health is health. Asking for help is strength. And real, lasting healing happens in community, when we show up for one another with open hands and open hearts.

We are neighbors helping neighbors. We walk alongside, not ahead. We sit with people in the hard places and celebrate every step forward, no matter how small.

You are important, never forget that this world is better with you in it.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we want to shine a light on something close to our hearts. 💙
Research shows that around 76% of people experiencing homelessness are also living with a mental health condition. For many of our neighbors, the weight of mental illness and housing instability are deeply connected — one feeding the other in ways that make it incredibly hard to move forward alone.
But no one was meant to carry that weight alone.
We believe every person no matter their circumstances deserves to be met with dignity, compassion, and genuine care. Not just a roof, but a community. Not just services, but people who will walk alongside them toward real restoration and hope.
If you or someone you love is struggling, we want you to know: there is a place for you. You are seen. You are valued. And there is a path forward.
