Central Florida Youth Advisory Board - YAB

Central Florida Youth Advisory Board - YAB The Youth Advisory Board is a youth-run advocacy group in Central Florida that is composed of current and former youth in the foster care system.

The Youth Advisory Boards (YAB) of Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties are youth driven advocacy groups that advocate for children in the foster care system. YAB provides youth a chance to be heard and take charge of the changes they want to see in the child welfare system. After all, they are the ones who have lived through it. There are three goals of the YAB:
1) Advance the foster care sys

tem by enhancing and in some cases, reforming laws that are preventing the growth of the child welfare system.

2) Create a safe haven where teenagers and young adults can be themselves, regardless of the location.

3) Promote education in all areas of their lives, not just academically.
