🚧NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSURE🚧

Water Street will be closed this coming Monday, August 31st and Tuesday, September 1st from the hours of 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM each day.

During these hours, the road will be closed to all traffic, and certain residents will not be able to access their driveways. Please plan accordingly and seek an alternate route.

We apologize for the inconvenience but appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we complete this emergency work.

It's that time of year again! The Village of Orleans is now accepting applications for the Webster M. Newcomb and Emily M. Newcomb Memorial Scholarship!

Are you currently in college pursuing a career in the medical field? The Newcomb Memorial Scholarship is here to support your journey toward making a difference in healthcare!

⚕Eligibility:
- Open to current college students in their sophomore year and beyond pursuing a degree in medicine, nursing, or any health-related field. High school students and college freshman are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Individual must live in the Town of Barton.
- Demonstrated commitment to community service and healthcare initiatives.

📆Application Deadline:
- Submit your application by November 20, 2026.
- Funds will be awarded on November 23, 2026.

✍How to Apply:
1. Complete the application form. Applications are available at the Village of Orleans office located at 1 Memorial Square, Orleans.
2. Provide two letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors in the healthcare field.
3. Include a current resume highlighting your academic achievements and community service.

A planned power outage will take place tomorrow, August 12th, from approximately 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM in SPECIFIC AREAS ONLY - this outage will affect:

• Union Street
• School Street
• Marston Avenue
• Marcotte Place
• Cottage Street

If you did NOT receive a door hanger notice or a personal visit from an Orleans Electric employee, this outage does NOT affect you.

Village-wide yard sale is happening this weekend!

While you're out and about, swing by the Orleans Municipal Building and check out the Rummage Sale hosted by the Friends of the Jones Memorial Library. They'll be set up Saturday and Sunday from 9–5.

Or if you’ve got items to donate, they’re still accepting them today until 5pm!

The Friends of the Jones Memorial Library are hosting the second annual Rummage Sale at the Orleans Municipal Building on June 27 & 28. Donation drop offs are welcome on Friday June 26.

Signs of summer are slowly making their way into Orleans. Between the warmer weather this week and the fresh flowers planted at our Veterans Memorial, the village is starting to feel ready for the season ahead.

As our Veterans Memorial states, “Remember those who served and those who died.” Memorial Day gives us all an opportunity to pause, reflect, and honor the sacrifices made by so many men and women who served our country.

Please note that the Village Office will be CLOSED on Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day. We will re-open Tuesday during regular business hours.

A special thank you to Butterfield Farm Stand for helping us brighten the memorial with these beautiful flowers just in time for the holiday weekend. We appreciate the support from our local businesses and community members who help keep Orleans looking beautiful year after year.
