Signs of summer are slowly making their way into Orleans. Between the warmer weather this week and the fresh flowers planted at our Veterans Memorial, the village is starting to feel ready for the season ahead.

As our Veterans Memorial states, “Remember those who served and those who died.” Memorial Day gives us all an opportunity to pause, reflect, and honor the sacrifices made by so many men and women who served our country.

Please note that the Village Office will be CLOSED on Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day. We will re-open Tuesday during regular business hours.

A special thank you to Butterfield Farm Stand for helping us brighten the memorial with these beautiful flowers just in time for the holiday weekend. We appreciate the support from our local businesses and community members who help keep Orleans looking beautiful year after year.

💧🌷SPRING HYDRANT FLUSHING🌷💧

It’s time for the Village’s spring hydrant flushing! We are planning on next week: Wednesday and Thursday, May 13th & 14th.

We flush hydrants each spring and fall to:
• Keep water lines clear of mineral buildup
• Maintain good water quality
• Ensure hydrants are ready for fire protection

You may notice low pressure, discolored water, or brief interruptions while crews work.

If you see discoloration, just run the cold tap until it clears. Contact the Village Office if issues continue. Thank you!

🗂️ HAPPY ADMINISTRATIVE PROFESSIONALS DAY!🗂️

Today we’re celebrating the ones who keep everything running (and everyone in line 😉).

From answering phones and juggling a million tasks to tracking down answers, staying organized, and occasionally keeping the guys on their toes with a well-timed practical joke, Marilyn and Becca truly do it all.

Behind every smooth day at the office is a whole lot of multitasking, problem-solving, and just the right amount of laughter.

Thanks for everything you do! You keep things running and keep things interesting! 😄

Yes… this is being posted at the end of the day 😅 but in our defense, we’ve been a little busy doing all the things that keep the office running.

And yes… this is essentially a post about ourselves, but if we didn’t make it, who would?? 😂

⚡APRIL 18TH IS LINEMAN APPRECIATION DAY⚡

In recognition of Lineman Appreciation Day tomorrow, April 18th, we'd like to give a big thank you to our Orleans Electric linemen:

John, Shawn, Chris, Kevin, and Matthew

We want to recognize these hardworking men who keep the lights on for our community! They can often be found working long hours in all kinds of Vermont weather, from snowstorms and ice to high winds and heavy rain. Whether it’s restoring power during an outage, climbing poles in tough conditions, or maintaining the lines year-round, their work keeps our homes and businesses running safely and reliably.

Gentlemen, your dedication and commitment to this work do not go unnoticed, and we truly appreciate everything you do for our community.

If you see them out and about, be sure to give them a wave or a thank you!
