Detour for RT39 goes from Cross Rd to the roundabout through Rt 28

🚧 Wastewater Improvement Project Traffic Update for the week of October 19, 2026 🚧

Route 28 will continue to be CLOSED between the Finlay Road/ Pond Road intersection and the intersection with Monument Road.

Traffic heading into Orleans on Route 28 will be detoured down Monument Road to Main Street but may use Pond Road. Those heading towards Harwich/ Chatham will be detoured to Monument Road and back to Route 28 beyond the work zone. The detour route will be thoroughly marked with signage.

Residents on Route 28 and its side roads between the work zone and Monument Road will be required to go south to Monument Road in order to head towards Orleans center. Work zone will be just south of Crystal Lake Drive.

Uniformed police officers and/or traffic flaggers will be present as needed to help maintain safe travel through the work zone or any detoured routes.

This is an ongoing, multi-phase project with no fixed completion date. Schedules may be adjusted due to weather, field conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances. Please expect delays and plan accordingly.

🎶 Keeping Our Community Safe at Outermost Roots & Blues! 🎸

The Orleans Police and Fire Departments were proud to provide security and safety at the Outermost Roots & Blues Festival at Nauset Beach on October 10th.

Our officers and firefighters worked together to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone attending this great community event.

Thank you to the organizers, performers, vendors, and everyone who came out to enjoy a day of music and community here in Orleans. We appreciate the teamwork and collaboration that help make these events a success!

On Saturday 10/10 a large event will be held at Nauset Beach between 11:00am-7:00pm. You my notice an increased amount of traffic on Beach Road. Vehicles will not be allowed to park on Beach Road, Nauset Heights Road or roads connecting to Beach Road or Nauset Heights Road. The Orleans Police Department was proud to participate in the recent Community Resource Fair, joining local organizations and community partners to connect residents with valuable resources, information, and support.
