Last night at the Orleans Chamber of Commerce First Friday event, it was also the kick off for Boards in Stores. For the third year in a row, the Orleans Police Department has sponsored a board and each time we have been lucky enough to have local artist Dinah Mellin create an OPD themed masterpiece. Check out the OPD board and many others, currently at 44 Main St or see the link below if you are interested in placing a bid to take one home.

The Orleans Police Department along with Cape & Coast Bank were proud to participate in a community presentation focused on scam awareness, fraud prevention, and identity theft protection at the Snow Library tonight.

Key topics included:

How to recognize phishing emails and text scams
Phone scams targeting residents of all ages
Warning signs of identity theft
Best practices for protecting personal and financial information
What to do if you believe youโ€™ve been targeted or victimized

We appreciate everyone who attended and took part in this important discussion. Community awareness and education are powerful tools in the fight against fraud.

๐Ÿพ A Friendly Reminder for Orleans Dog Owners ๐Ÿพ
Hello Orleans residents,
As we enjoy spending time outdoors with our dogs around our beautiful town, Iโ€™d like to share a reminder about two important Town of Orleans bylaws that Animal Control is frequently asked about: dog restraint and waste removal.
๐Ÿ• Dog Restraint (Leash Law)
All dogs must be kept under control at all times to help prevent accidents and ensure the safety of people, pets, and wildlife. This can be accomplished by:
โ€ข Keeping your dog on a leash, or
โ€ข Maintaining reliable voice control and recall.
๐Ÿ’ฉ Waste Removal
Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.
The Town of Orleans bylaw states that the owner or person in control of an animal must immediately remove and properly dispose of any waste left by their pet on any property other than their own.
โš ๏ธ Violations May Result in Fines
Failure to comply with these bylaws may result in enforcement action and fines.
๐Ÿ“– Want to Read the Full Bylaws?
You can review the Town of Orleans bylaws by visiting Mass.gov and searching for โ€œTown Bylaws,โ€ then selecting Orleans.
Thank you for doing your part to keep Orleans clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

This weekend, officers from the Orleans Police Department participated in the โ€œRun For A Reasonโ€ in Yarmouth, an event held in support of the Yarmouth Police Relief Association.

The run brought together law enforcement officers, families, and community members to honor and remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. This yearโ€™s event was dedicated in memory of Yarmouth Sgt. Sean Gannon and Yarmouth Sgt. Thomas Hennessey.

We are proud of our officers who took part and joined so many others in paying tribute through this meaningful event. Their participation reflects the strong bonds between agencies and the shared commitment to honoring our fallen.

We thank the Yarmouth Police Relief Association for organizing such a significant occasion and for continuing to support the law enforcement community.
