School’s out, and we’re seeing more e-bikes and e-motos on the roads, sidewalks, and trails throughout Ormond Beach. Parents, please stay involved and know what your children are riding. Education and supervision can prevent serious crashes and injuries before they happen!

Some of these vehicles may instead be classified as motorcycles or motor vehicles under Florida law, which can require registration, insurance, and a valid driver license.

In Florida, a vehicle may NOT legally qualify as an electric bicycle if it:

• Has no pedals
• Exceeds 750 watts
• Travels faster than 28 mph with motor assistance
