Oronoco Fire Department

Oronoco Fire Department The Oronoco Fire Department was established in 1971 as a service for approximately 700 residents. Our team meets twice per month.

Today, it services an estimated 1300 residents and now has a staff of 19 members. The Fire Department serves the City of Oronoco and is on call at any time for mutual aid assistance for the residents of Oronoco Township. The Oronoco First Responders have a staff of 26 members and serve as first response for any medical calls and accidents for residents of both the City of Oronoco and Oronoco Towns

hip. Every member on our rescue team puts in many hours each month for training, maintenance, meetings, responding to emergencies, fundraising and many other events to provide you with the most up-to-date proper care when you call upon us. Although we are volunteer departments, we always have people prepared to serve 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Oronoco Fire Department is a member of the Olmsted County, Wabasha, and Zumbro Valley Mutual Aid groups and the Minnesota Fire Relief Association. Our current apparatus include two tankers, two engines (pumpers), a brush rig (pickup), and a six-wheeler with water and medical equipment. We have new turnout gear and SCBAs (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus). We have two sets of extrication tools used for rescuing entrapped victims from motor vehicle accidents. On the second Monday of the month, we have our business meeting at 7:00 p.m. The fourth Monday of the month is reserved as our training night, which starts at 6:30 p.m. Both meetings are held at the Oronoco Fire Hall. Our training is organized by the Training Officer and includes working with our current equipment.

๐Ÿ”ฅ March and April Fire Training ๐Ÿ”ฅ

In March, the Oronoco Fire Department took one night with Vehicle Response Training to train on electric vehicle response. Electric vehicles are becoming more and more popular. This training taught our responders the design of EVs and how to safely extinguish them.

In April, our firefighters spent two nights training on vehicle extrication. We trained on methods of gaining access and removing trapped occupants from crashed and damaged vehicles. We practiced basic and advanced techniques such as door removals, roof peel/removals, and dash rolls and lifts.

Thank you to Pulver Motor Service for providing the vehicles and letting us make a mess in your lot!
