Congratulations to Emily Rawley and Paige Lawson, winners of the 2026 Golden Badge Scavenger Hunt. The badge was found at Bud Clark Field on Monday, July 20th. These ladies officially hold the record for the fastest badge find!

The Golden Badge Scavenger Hunt is part of Oroville's Police-Community Partnerships Month held the third week of July through the third week of August and also includes the Kick-Off Party, the National Night Out event, and the NNO Event Photo Contest.

Normally, the winner of the scavenger hunt gets presented with their gift basket at the NNO event. This year, the winners were presented with their baskets at the Oroville Police Department.

Obviously the photo contest has been canceled for this year due to the canceled event.

We hope to see you all next year for Oroville's Police-Community Partnerships Month and the National Night Out event!!!

This year, Oroville's National Night Out was canceled due to the Sinlahekin fire that blew up on Saturday, August 1st due to the forecasted wind event.

The Sinlahekin fire grew OVER 44,000 acres in a matter of hours and forced many to evacuate their homes due to the fast moving fire.

With National Night Out being a Police-Community Partnership event and our local first responders being called out to serve our communities, the local NNO Planning Committee made the hard call to cancel the event due to the state of emergency in Okanogan County, the unpredictable fire behavior driven by high winds, the ongoing evacuations over the weekend, and our local Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS agencies being tied up with the fire.

Thank you to all the local fire departments, private fire companies, State, Federal, and out of county and state fire agencies who are still out battling this fire. Thank you to all the supporting agencies who also assisted and are assisting with taking care of those who had to evacuate and/or have lost their homes during this time.

You are all in our thoughts. Be careful out there and stay safe. Keep hope alive. Our communities are resilient. We have amazing people in Okanogan County!
