Interested applicants must reside in District A and be registered to vote within the district. Letters of Interest and supporting materials must be received by 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Overnight work on State Route 162 enters its next major phase beginning in early August. Expect overnight lane closures, flaggers, reduced speeds, and minor delays as crews begin pavement excavation and paving operations .

Shuttle Information to skip the traffic for Oroville Firework display event! 🎇🇺🇸

🚌 Skip the traffic and ride the FREE shuttle to the Riverbend Park Fireworks Celebration!

Complimentary shuttle service will be available from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM from two convenient park-and-ride locations, with return service beginning after the fireworks.

Limited parking will also be available at Riverbend Park and Bedrock Park on a first-come, first-served basis. To avoid traffic and parking delays, we encourage attendees to take advantage of the free shuttle service.

Travel and traffic information regarding Oroville’s Fourth of July Fireworks display! 🇺🇸🎇

🚦 Riverbend Park Fireworks Celebration: Traffic & Safety Information 🎆
Join us for the annual fireworks display at Riverbend Park (300 Montgomery Street)!

Please review the following information before you arrive.

Parking
• Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Once the park parking lot reaches capacity, it will be closed to additional vehicles.
• Please follow the directions of law enforcement and event staff.

Road Closures
Shortly before the fireworks begin, the following closures will be in effect:
• Westbound Montgomery Street at Feather River Boulevard (including the Motel 6 entrance and exit)
• Southbound Highway 70 Montgomery Street off-ramp
• Northbound Highway 70 Montgomery Street off-ramp

Exit Plan
• Traffic leaving Riverbend Park will be directed to Highway 70 North or Highway 70 South.
• Traffic leaving Bedrock Park will be directed to Feather River Boulevard or eastbound Montgomery Street.
• Westbound turns onto Montgomery Street from Bedrock Park will not be permitted.
• Please expect temporary delays and follow all traffic directions.

🚫 Park Rules
The following are not permitted at Riverbend Park:
• Personal fireworks
• Alcoholic beverages
• Glass containers
• Smoking or va**ng
• Open flames
• Illegal drugs or controlled substances

Zero Tolerance for Illegal Fireworks
The Oroville Police Department will have zero tolerance for the possession or use of illegal or unauthorized fireworks in Riverbend Park and other City parks. Violations may result in citations or arrest.

Celebrate Safely This Fourth of July 🇺🇸

As you celebrate Independence Day with family and friends, please remember that only State Fire Marshal-approved Safe and Sane fireworks are legal within designated areas of the City of Oroville during the authorized dates.

Before lighting fireworks, please keep these safety tips in mind:

• Use fireworks only outdoors in a clear area away from homes, dry vegetation, and vehicles.
• Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby.
• Never allow young children to light or handle fireworks, and always provide close adult supervision.
• Never attempt to relight a firework that doesn't ignite. Wait at least 20 minutes, then soak it thoroughly in water before disposing of it.
• Keep pets indoors, as fireworks can be frightening and unpredictable.
• Never use fireworks while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
• Soak all used fireworks in water before placing them in the trash.

Illegal fireworks are prohibited and are subject to fines starting at $1,000 per device, per offense, with increased penalties for repeat violations.

For active emergencies, call 9-1-1. To report illegal fireworks or other non-emergency concerns, contact the Oroville Police Department at (530) 538-2448.

💙 Standing with Our Neighbors in Chico

The City of Oroville extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the two individuals whose lives were tragically taken in the recent shooting at the Chico Library. We also continue to keep the individual who was injured, along with all those impacted by this heartbreaking act of violence, in our thoughts.

Public libraries are places of learning, connection, and community. The tragedy at the Chico Library has deeply affected not only the City of Chico and the Butte County Library system, but communities throughout our county.

Today, the Oroville City Council sent a formal letter of support to the Butte County Library, expressing our solidarity during this difficult time. We stand with our neighbors as they grieve, heal, and honor the lives forever changed by this tragedy.

Our hearts remain with everyone affected. May we continue to support one another with compassion, kindness, and resilience in the days and weeks ahead.

Traffic Advisory:
Cal Water’s water‑main replacement project on Montgomery St at Norton St is continuing today and tomorrow (June 16–17).

Drivers can expect:
• Eastbound closure with detours
• Single‑lane traffic westbound from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Eastbound local traffic detoured to Orange Ave via Washington Ave
• Through‑traffic detoured to Oro Dam Blvd E to help reduce traffic in the Orange Ave residential area

Please plan extra travel time and follow posted signs. Thank you for your patience as this important work continues.

The City of Oroville is excited to announce that it has applied for $1 million in federal funding for preliminary engineering work for a roundabout at the Oro Dam Blvd / Orange Ave / Acacia Ave intersection.

This project could replace the current signalized intersection with a modern roundabout and add important pedestrian and bicycle improvements. These upgrades would help improve traffic flow, enhance multimodal safety, and support a cleaner, safer, and more efficient transportation network for our community.

Funding to complete this essential preliminary engineering work would be a major step forward. It would position the City to compete for future state and federal construction funding.

The City should know the results of this application in July or August.
