Construction Update for South Oroville Safe Routes to School Project: Roadway Pulverization and Full Depth Reclamation

Beginning Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the contractor is scheduled to begin roadway pulverization at the following locations:

• Lower Wyandotte Road – from Monte Vista Avenue to Las Plumas Avenue
• Monte Vista Avenue – from Lincoln Boulevard to Lower Wyandotte Road

During pulverization operations, traffic will be reduced to one lane through the active work zone, with a pilot car used to safely guide motorists through the construction area. Motorists should expect delays and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

Following pulverization, the roadway will undergo the Full Depth Reclamation with Cement (FDR-C) process. Asphalt paving will follow once the FDR-C work is complete.

During the pulverization and FDR-C phases, motorists should expect to travel on an unpaved roadway surface until asphalt paving is completed. The contractor will maintain access through the work area and will take appropriate measures to provide for the safety of motorists, pedestrians, construction personnel, and the surrounding community.

The County appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while these necessary roadway and pedestrian improvements are completed. Please use caution, follow all posted traffic control, and allow additional travel time when traveling through the project area.

Today, the Butte County Board of Supervisors proclaimed September 2026 as National Preparedness Month, an important opportunity for our community to prepare for any emergency, from wildfires and natural disasters to pandemics and more. This year’s theme is “Americans Stand Ready.”

Since January 2017, Butte County has faced 20 declared disasters — federal, state, and local. Everyone has a personal responsibility to be prepared for themselves, their families, pets, and livestock.

2026 Community Cleanup Program: Remaining Dates

We’ve completed six community cleanups this year, with four more still to come! See the graphic for upcoming dates and areas.

Originally closed for safety back in 2020, it’s now a beloved spot for walkers, cyclists, families, and all outdoor enthusiasts.

CSAC on the road again! 🚗

CSAC President and County of Santa Clara, Supervisor Susan Ellenberg joined CSAC Chief Legislative Advocate Kimberly Rodriguez for a day on the road while hearing directly from county leaders.

The day kicked off in the County of Butte, where they met with Supervisor Tod Kimmelshue and Supervisor Tami Ritter, and toured Oroville Dam and the Five Mile Recreation Area, learning about local stormwater and debris flow challenges. They also visited Everhart Village, a tiny-home community developed in collaboration with Chico Housing Action Team that connects people experiencing homelessness with services and support near the county’s Behavioral Health Department.

Then, it was back on the road to the County of Glenn, where they joined Supervisor Grant Carmon and Supervisor Monica Rossman for a tour of Riverwest Processing and a closer look at the county’s almond industry. The day continued with visits to Thunderhill Raceway Park and the Glenn County Behavioral Health facility, highlighting the diverse industries and services that support the community.
