Funding from Measure Q would require strict fiscal protections, including:
• Independent audits and a citizens’ oversight committee
• All funds would be spent on OCESD facilities and schools
• A detailed project list would designate the projects for which bond funds can be spent
• No funds could be used for administrators’ salaries or benefits

Our maintenance teams work hard to keep our schools safe, clean, and functioning, but many of our facilities were built to standards from another era. Essential repairs and upgrades are needed across our campuses. Aging classrooms and deteriorating facilities can also be more costly and less efficient to operate than modern facilities.

On June 17, the Oroville City Elementary School District Board of Trustees voted to place a $16 million school improvement bond measure on the November 2026 ballot to repair and upgrade Oroville City schools.

The measure is projected to cost approximately $16 per $100,000 of assessed property value annually while the bonds are outstanding. It is projected that the measure will not increase the current tax rate homeowners are paying.

Oroville City Elementary School District is proud to provide high-quality education in TK/Kindergarten through 8th grade, with dedicated teachers and staff helping students learn, grow, and prepare for the future. But while our students are thriving academically, our aging school facilities need attention. Many of our schools are 40–50 years old, with our oldest campus at 75 years. Essential repairs, safety upgrades, and modernization are needed. Our students deserve learning environments that match the quality of education they receive!

The wildland management and fire prevention goats are back at Ishi Hills Middle School. This time, they brought their cousins (sheep) along to help. The sheep brought their own private security guard to the jobsite. See if you can spot it.
