🏃‍♂️🏅 Congratulations to Our Red Rider State Track & Field Athletes! 🏅🏃‍♀️

On Thursday, the Orrville Police Department and Orrville Fire Department were honored to provide an es**rt for our Red Rider athletes out of town as they departed for the OHSAA State Track & Field Championships. It was a privilege to help send them off as they represented our community on Ohio’s biggest stage.

Earning a trip to the state meet is no small feat. It reflects countless hours of training, dedication, perseverance, and teamwork. We are incredibly proud of all of our student-athletes, coaches, and supporters who helped make this achievement possible.

A special congratulations goes out to sophomore Mark Lorson on an extraordinary accomplishment—OHSAA State Champion in the High Jump! Mark’s hard work and determination have paid off in a big way, and he has made the entire Orrville community proud.

Congratulations to all of our Red Riders who competed at state. Thank you for representing Orrville with class, pride, and excellence.

🚔⚽ Welcome to the Orrville Police Department, Officer Jerson Lopez Irias! ⚽🚔

Today, the Orrville Police Department proudly swore in our newest full-time police officer, Jerson Lopez Irias!

Jerson is an Orrville native and a proud Orrville High School Class of 2024 graduate, where he was well known for his success on the soccer field. Following graduation, he pursued a career in law enforcement and successfully completed the Stark State Law Enforcement Academy, graduating in May 2026.

As someone who grew up in Orrville, Jerson is excited for the opportunity to serve and protect the same community that helped shape him into the person he is today.

Jerson was sworn in today surrounded by his family, including his mother Juana, father Samuelito, and fiancée Skye. The ceremony concluded with a special and memorable moment as his mother had the honor of pinning on his badge, officially welcoming him into his law enforcement career.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Lopez Irias and welcoming him to the Orrville Police Department family. We are excited to have him on our team and look forward to the positive impact he will make in our community.

🚔👮‍♂️ Welcome to Orrville, Officer Justice Al-Rubiay! 👮‍♂️🚔

Today, Mayor Plybon proudly swore in our newest full-time police officer, Justice Al-Rubiay, as he officially joined the Orrville Police Department family!

The ceremony was made even more special as Justice's fiancée, Megan, had the honor of pinning on his badge while their children, Malea and Roman, proudly stood by his side. Also present to celebrate this important milestone were Justice's mother, Alisa, and his aunt, Rachel, whose support has helped him throughout his journey.

Justice is a 2021 graduate of Canton South High School and comes to Orrville after serving with the Uhrichsville Police Department. He brings with him a passion for public service, a strong work ethic, and an eagerness to make a positive impact in our community.

Please join us in giving Officer Al-Rubiay a warm Orrville welcome! 👏 He is excited to get to know the residents, businesses, and families that make our community such a great place to live and work.

🍦 Our Scoops for Safety program kicks off today! Orr Valley Creamery has teamed up with us to deliver free ice cream “tickets” to any kids we see wearing helmets. We encourage helmet safety on bicycles, skateboards, and scooters!

🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Their courage, service, and dedication will never be forgotten.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to all those currently serving in our Armed Forces. Thank you for your continued commitment, sacrifice, and protection of our nation.

May we always remember the true meaning of this day and those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy. 🇺🇸

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming students from Orrville Middle School to City Hall and the Orrville Police Department for a behind-the-scenes tour! 🚓🏛️

Students had the opportunity to learn more about local government, see how the police department operates, and meet some of the officers and staff who proudly serve our community each day.

Thank you to Orrville Middle School for visiting us today, we always enjoy connecting with our local students and sharing what we do! ☀️😎

Today, Officer Smucker had the opportunity to participate in Orrville Middle School’s “My Future Game Plan” event!

Students were able to learn about a variety of different professions and career paths, and Officer Smucker enjoyed talking with students about what it’s like to serve as a police officer with the Orrville Police Department. From helping the community to responding to emergencies and building positive relationships, students got a firsthand look into the rewarding world of law enforcement. 👮‍♂️🚓

We love opportunities like this to connect with our students and help inspire future career goals! Thank you to Orrville Middle School for inviting us to be part of such a great event and for investing in the future of our youth!

This evening, Officer Smucker and Officer McCumbers had a great time participating in “Reading Under the Lights” at Red Rider Stadium! 📚🏟️

This wonderful event was made possible through a partnership between Orrville Elementary School, Orrville Area United Way, and the Orrville Public Library.

Thank you to everyone who attended, as well as all of the sponsors, volunteers, and community partners who helped make this event such a success for our students and families. We are proud to be part of a community that continues to support literacy, education, and positive relationships with our youth!
