☀️ An Enriching Summer Starts Here ☀️
This summer, give your child the opportunity to explore new interests, build confidence, and stay engaged. {YEL!} Youth Enrichment League is bringing half day summer camps to Brandon Schools for kids to learn, grow, and have fun all summer long.

We will have 2 camps running the week of June 15th

🧑‍🔬 {YEL!} Mad Scientists Training Academy (Grades 2-5)
In this class, you won't just learn science.....you'll DO science. Make and take home a lava lamp, hover disc, explosive volcano, and....of course...SLIME! Use all of these experiments to explore and discover the scientific method. Don your white coat and goggles! It's time to begin your own journey to becoming a mad scientist.

🚀{YEL} Destination Mars: Rocketry Camp (Grades 2-5)
Launch and watch your very own rocket speed 300 feet into the air! Then it is yours to take home! Students will make and take-home multiple rockets of varying difficulty throughout this session. We will use these rockets and airplanes to investigate basic aeronautical concepts including propulsion, thrust, lift, drag and more. We will also hypothesize about travel in outer space, how to get a United States astronaut to Mars and life on Mars.

Michigan Summer EBT is a program to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer. Families will get $120 for each eligible child to buy groceries during the summer. Children who get Michigan Summer EBT can still participate in other summer meal programs.

Some families will get Summer EBT benefits automatically, but some families will need to apply. Families must meet the income and program requirements to be eligible. Applying for or receiving Summer EBT does not affect the immigration status of your children or family.

Who is eligible?

Your school-aged child, age 6 to 18, is eligible for Summer EBT if:

They were or are already receiving SNAP (food benefits), TANF (cash assistance), or Medicaid* anytime between [07/01/2025-08/31/2026]
Categorically eligible (Foster child, homeless, migrant, or a runaway)
Some families eligible for Summer EBT don't need to apply and will receive benefits automatically. Others will need to apply.

On Thursday, the upper level BHS Spanish students took their annual trip to the Detroit Institute of Art and Mexican Town as a culminating activity to the cultural research project done in class. We’d like to give a shout out to Anthony Mirolli for explaining to cultural and historical significance of the Diego Rivera murals to the classes as part of our visit.

Brandon Twp. — Brandon Varsity Baseball Coach Greg Glover still remembers the first time he met Derek Hanewacker at Brandon Middle School. Even then, Hanewacker’s passion for the game was unmistakable, despite the hurdles in his way. “Derek had some physical challenges,” Glover recalled. “...
