Summary of 5/4/26 Event:

This morning, Blue Mountain High School received a threat via telephone. All necessary personnel were notified immediately. In response, all schools were placed on a soft lockdown. Students at BMHS were required to remain in their classrooms, while students at BMEE, BMEW, and BMMS were permitted to move throughout their buildings. During the soft lockdown, no one was permitted to enter or leave any school.

Law enforcement has indicated that this threat was likely part of a robocall affecting several school districts across eastern Pennsylvania, as well as other states.

At 9:20 a.m., we received an official all-clear from the State Police and the FBI. The soft lockdown was then lifted, and normal operations resumed. Out of an abundance of caution, an increased police presence remains at Blue Mountain High School.

We want to recognize the remarkable way our administration, staff, and students handled the situation. Their calm, cooperation, and adherence to procedures were instrumental in maintaining a safe and orderly environment. We also extend our sincere thanks to our school security officers, local police, state police, and FBI for their quick response and professionalism.

The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. The district communicates with parents and guardians as quickly as possible while also following guidance from law enforcement regarding what information can be shared publicly. Situations like this evolve quickly, and it is essential that the district provides accurate information to help prevent confusion and the spread of misinformation. As part of our ongoing safety protocols, the district will review its communication methods to ensure timely and effective information sharing.

Eagle Express messages were sent at 8:38 a.m., 9:01 a.m., and 9:32 a.m. Additionally, a Facebook message was posted and updated as more information became available.
