Good afternoon! We are letting everyone know that there is still State Cost Share cover crop and strip/no till dollars available! You can sign up year after year for cover crops but strip/no till is a one time payment. Come into the Osage NRCS office to sign up!

The Mitchell Soil and Water Conservation District is pleased to be participating in the Conservation Districts of Iowa scholarship program again this year. We will be awarding two county scholarship to the top applicant in Mitchell County. This application will then be sent to the regional and state competitions. We encourage any high school senior who is pursuing a degree in agriculture or natural resources to apply.

Completed applications should be delivered to the Mitchell Soil and Water Conservation District office at 1529 Main Street in Osage, IA 50461 no later than Friday, February 7th

Out touring a retired pasture in the Rock Creek Watershed this morning. After sitting empty for a few years there are several native species beginning to show back up, and the potential for this area is amazing! Several Oxbows could be restored bringing the area back to it’s original state of meandering stream and wetlands creating a beautiful ecosystem for native plants, animals, and insects. Oh, and WATER QUALITY!
